    A-level photography?

I did it and had a bad experience. The darkroom side of it was great and I learnt a lot in that respect, but I'd say nearly 75% of our course was written work and not really relevent. We had no guidance on any technical aspects, shutterspeed, aperture etc. The teachers didnt even care about...

What's the highest ISO you'll use?

Thats pretty obvious though? Companies don't bang on about low light performmance on their new models for nothing, it's a huge selling point.

Should I sell my PC and go laptop?

I've got a laptop, but I do a lot of writing (and will be doing even more when I start Uni) so I have a full size keyboard aswell that I plug in when I'm in 'stationary' position, typing on the baby laptop keyboard does my head in!

Decent flash for use off camera

Quite a few 285's popping on ebay at the moment (in the UK), just bought 2 for £45! They are the older manuel versions though, which is fine for off camera IMO.

Some Advice on Canon EOS 350D

350d + decent lens, the glass makes more difference then the body at this stage!

    Street photography

Funny how it varies from place to place, when I was in Canada I took a load of street stuff with a 20mm prime, no one seemed remotely bothered! Not sure I'd be quite so confident doing that in my own town though

Why do you like using a Mac rather than a Windows PC?

I just find macs overpriced, I've have a windows laptop and desktop station that I had built to my specs (both far higher then the 'equivilent' mac's) and they still worked out a hell of a lot cheaper. People says windows always slows down and gets clogged up, how hard is it to run a decent...

20 amazing pics that could be HDR but aren't

I don't really care if they are / arn't HDR, they look blown out and overcooked regardless, just looks like someones had a dodgy go with the curves and got carried away! I like 2 out of the whole bunch.

Radio Triggers... i know, i know

My cactus v2 from ebay turned up yesterday, got a bit worried as initially they didnt seem to work, thankfully I changed the battery for a decent one and they worked perfectly (so I suggest you do the same). Taken about 50 shots (varying distances, indoors / out) and no problems yet, no...

I tried to take photos near the airport today.

I hope this thread didnt make me come across as one of those people with the '**** the police' attitude as that couldnt be further from the truth, I have plenty of friends in the force, I just wanted to share my experience.

I tried to take photos near the airport today.

Yeah my comment was a bit silly and I realised as soon as I said it - but as mentioned, I kinda thought they were playing along as they didnt sound very serious to begin with. I wasnt even in viewing distance of the runway / terminal. Frustrating as it could have been a great shot but I...

I tried to take photos near the airport today.

So today I finished work early and decided to go and take some snaps.. Went up near Bristol airport and decided to take some photos of the fields, very low fog so I thought it'd make for an interesting landscape. Started to take a few photos from a gate, I had my headphones in so was...

    Budget lighting setup.

Hey folks - I have a 350d and want to try my hand at some off camera lighting, I've done a lot of reading up but it still seems to be a bit of a minefield  I have established the Cactus PT04 seems like a good bargain buy, but do I need the v2 or the v2s? Just a bit stuck on what flash...
