    UV lights for alternative processes

Having read through the link that Nick posted I have invested in some Metal Halide lighting, bought from the local Hydroponics shop. The bulbs designed to promote early growth of young plants apparently give more light in the UV/blue spectrum which hopefully will give better results for the...

    UV lights for alternative processes

Thanks for the replies guys: Steven, i'm not sure of the specific frequencies, I have found my research a little confusing particularly UVA and UVB lighting. I need to research more! Nick, thanks for the link, not had a chance to read it all, as i'm at work, but will have read later...

    UV lights for alternative processes

I have recently become intrigued with the cyanotype process, having been given a Silverprint cyanotype kit as a gift. I am happy with the process of creating my contact prints up to the point of relying on the sun! The light is so variable that it is frustratingly difficult to monitor the...

RPS distinctions - my journey - first stop - the 'LRPS' - GOT IT :)

"Interestingly - the LRPS needs to show competency and avoid repetition, which is apparently one of the commonest reasons for failure - so you can't for instance simply put in 10 similar seascapes; yet strangely, that's exactly what you can do for your A & F, which can run on a very narrow theme...

    Martin's

I bought a 24-105L Canon lens last year with no problems. I arranged to collect it from their address, a private house, outside Leeds. I had to wait while my cheque cleared which is understandable in todays climate, no credit card sales! I would recommend Martins!

    Black and White conversion software?

I have been using the B&W plug-in softwear by Topaz Labs in America with some fantastic results. Think I paid $29 for it!, well worth a look!

    Jacobs gone bump!

I've always been treated well at the Manchester branch, with the staff more than willing to help with any queries or problems. I have bought bodies and printers from them in the past and they have tried their best to price match or throw in a few extras to make a sale.

Your own pictures on the wall at home, or not?

Put them up and be proud! I have a number of images printed to 20x16 and a 4' x 3' canvas image. They are better to look at than watching some of the rubbish on TV!! (I am a bit biased tho')

    Monthly reading

I am a bit of a 'magaholic' and have been devouring the content of as many magazines as I can read for a couple of years now as i'm at the outset in this glorious hobby. What I have noticed is that the same articles are regurgitated every year in a slightly different way as if they are on a...

Result! The iMac is Bac! Repaired by Apple under warranty, although it had expired. Customer service at the Trafford Centre was excellent, the parts arriving on Tuesday morning and machine ready for collection at 4pm. Cant say fairer than that! Learnt my lesson, SURGE PROTECTION AT ALL TIMES!!!!

    Dead iMac!

Took the iMac into the Genius Bar at the Apple Trafford Centre store. The guy was helpful, firing up the computer and following a diagnostic check gave it the all clear. He couldn't explain the problem but suggested a fault at the power source. Took the iMac home and it still wouldnt fire up. An...
