I have literally just done this upgrade myself! 2 weeks ago.
Went from Tam 17-50 non vc to the Canon 17-55.
Definately worth doing.
I loved my Tam, but the Canon is definately, without doubt, sharper with better colour reproduction.
The Canon is near silent focusing too.
I am very pleased I...

Been there before and its a great place.
You are free to wander around as you like.
Just remember to be respectful because people are still living and working there.
Let me know what dates you decide on and ill try fit work around it :)
If its just a few lens you could go for lowepro nova type smaller bag.
If you want something a little bigger what about the event messenger bag?
I have them both and they are great. I use the messenger nearly all the time.
Welcome aboard guys. I'm fairly new too.
Dont post a lot but I'm on here everyday.
This site is def one of if not the best I have found.
You'll find lot's of helpful tips and ideas. Plus you will meet some interesting and talented people.
I did the same thing when moving from Sony to Canon.
If you email them your gear details some will send you a trade in quote back. Park Cameras is one that comes to mind.
Just dont expect it to be that high. As mentioned before trade in is lower than you could sell for.
Alternatively sell it...
+1 for the sigma 10-20. Awesome lens. Had mine for a while now and love it.
This combined with my tam 17-50 covers a very usable focal length whilst having much improved iq.
Do you have kit lens 18-50 or have you upgraded that?
You coule pick up a sigma 10-20 and a tam 17-50 for your budget...
How about the trusty old manfrotto xpro 190. Good solid construction. Sturdy out in the elements. Good build quality. Will last you years. Wont break the bank :)
