    430 EXII Flash Broken?

My flash has been behaving odly for a while, I do a lot of nightclub photography and 90% of the time it's fine. However, 10% of the time it over fires and completely whites out the entire photo. Normaly this can be fixed by turning off the flash and the camera, detatching and reataching the...

    Band Photography Advice

Hey guys. I've got a photography job tomorrow shooting quite a lot of live bands at a fairly big venue and it's only my second time photographing bands! This is how my shots turned out last time: http://www.flickr.com/photos/designprohibited/sets/72157626231808947/ I think I bumped the ISO...

    Timelapse Question

No expert but I guess you just have to keep the shutter speed the same as your interval time. Take a photo every 7 secs with a 7 sec shutter and boost the iso if it's too dark. Should be fine though, results should be cool if you get it right. I'm sure someone else can help more than me. :)

Nightclub photography - My first job!

Thanks for the info, I'll give that a good read later. I'm currently using a YN560 which is supposed to support rear curtain sync however apparently canon cameras are a bit of a bitch with said flash. I think I'll wait it out and invest in a canon flash when I can afford it. Secured another gig...

Nightclub photography - My first job!

Not keyrings this time luckly, just stuff for facebook :). Had a few to drink, had a really good night, will post a few pics tomorrow. I actually bought a stofen omni bounce diffuser but it didn't fit my flash >.< I would use that if I could. I can't though, so I just use the built in cover...

Nightclub photography - My first job!

Just secured another gig for night. :) promo photography coverage for a nightclub event at my university linked to Animex festival! Edit: Also wondering something :3 - Is it frowned upon to have a few drinks if working in a club or bar? Obviously nothing excessive since looking after my kit is...

Nightclub photography - My first job!

This is a subject I'm not too sure about. On one hand you're right and it's a perfectly valid point, however when trying to capture the dynamic atmosphere and energy in a club I think shooting perfectly aligned portraits would just look boring? Personally I think the angles work quite well...

Nightclub photography - My first job!

This isn't even a big company like IamVIP, this is just a small local business operating in say 15 local venues. I think I do get comission on anything past 20 sales. I'm not that concerned about the money to be honest, I'd rather do it for free and not bother with the keyrings. Ah well...

Nightclub photography - My first job!

Thanks guys, you can see a few more shots from the night here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/designprohibited/sets/72157625869594167/ I don't think my flash supports AF Assist, I only have a Yongnuo Speedlight YN560, can't afford a cannon speedlight yet. :( The company rented a room at...

Nightclub photography - My first job!

So I had my first nightclub photography gig on Saturday at a pretty busy club in Middlesbrough, UK. I really enjoyed the photography but didn't like the idea of having to sell keyrings. The only thing I found difficult was focusing on subjects in the dark, anyone have any tips for this? Most of...

    Nightclub Photography - Getting Started

I'm at Teesside University in Middlesbrough which is also not far from Newcastle so there's probably a lot of opportunity around. Obviously I'd have to get to a decent standard first though! When I'm set up I might get in touch with the Student Union see if I can photograph their events for free...

    Nightclub Photography - Getting Started

Thanks, I was also wondering what's the etiquette for taking a camera in to clubs? Should you notify management first and get permission or are bouncers normally ok with you taking a massive DSLR with lens/hud/flash in and photographing the customers? Obviously I'm talking about for practice...

    Nightclub Photography - Getting Started

I've recently had a big interest in nightclub photography and am looking to start learning and experimenting with it as a new hobby. I often go to clubs and bars with friends and take my compact digital just to take a few snaps and I really enjoy it and often get carried away coming home with...
