The gold ring is usually a good indicator like others have said. The other thing would be, if i'm not wrong, is that Nikon's expensive lenses are usually nano coated and have "N" code on the lens.
A: "aren't these great, and seriously what do you think of them"
Me: "Aww little ______'s smile is really cute"
A: "But what about the photo itself"
Me: "Well... to be honest, they could be a little better... but the photog captured little _______'s smile perfectly!" not.
I like it RAW.
Seriously, I choose RAW because of the flexibility. Sure I could shoot it right the first time, the way I had imagined it. But what if down the road I wanted a different look of the same shot?
