What can I add that hasn't already been said? :)
Apart from the fact that I'm an absolute location junkie, and this year I've mostly had to leave the big battery pack and heads behind and use a couple of speed lights on my travels instead. There is loads you can do with even one speed light and...
Much of what is being said sounds all so very familiar, and I've spent plenty of time castigating myself about how 'crap' I am. :bang:
But nowadays, no more. I've worked with some great people, enjoyed the process and very often enjoy the end result. :) It doesn't mean I'm not still trying to...
Ah.. :)
This thread has the potential to degenerate into a polarised discussion on, 'why these societies are great and helped grow my business' vs 'nope.. it's a load of worthless codswallop save your money'. ;)
As you may have noticed, the SIFGP are the same crew as the SWPP.
All I...
Mostly this. :plusone:
I will add that for anyone just starting out with little experience (and I'm not looking at you particularly donkeymusic as I haven't looked at your work), get your wallet out at the beginning and pay for a decent model, or even better try a studio day with a pro model...
Thank you.. But I knew that. But you probably knew that I knew that. ;)
I was actually confused by onform's apparent disbelief that the mtf charts were real when it was pretty obvious that they were. :)
But maybe you knew that as well and I'm still confused. ;)
I'm confused by this. Not unusual for me TBH. :D
Why wouldn't the MTF chart be real? It's a lens that just been officially announced. The MTF chart for it can be found at Canon sites globally...
The 1DmkIII has been my goto camera for the last five years. :)
What kind of final output are your images? Small prints? Big prints? Web only? Is it all personal usage?
Most of my stuff from my 1DIII ends up as web images or up to A3+ prints. I even have some that have been accepted in an...
At least one has been spotted in the U.K. apparently. :)
Pictures over at Canon Rumors.

Limited stock by the end of May is probably, as MWHCVT says, the best estimate.
My first wedding shoot. :)
I learned that the bride's mother fancied me and spent most of the day checking my bum out.
I also learned that I was too busy to take advantage of the attention. Professional see! :bonk:
A bit different from me, and it seems you are getting some sound advice.
My ring flash is for use with fashion and runs from a 1200 joule battery pack. It would be just a wee bit too powerful for macro. Just a bit. :D
I was wise enough to order one because it seemed like the all round camera that would be suitable for all the different types of shooting I do. It was just the right thickness of porridge.....sorry.... I mean it had just the right amount of MP that I was comfortable with.
Now I can't...
Used mine over the last 4.5 years since it was new. :)
It's my all round go to body for just about everything and partnered a 5D mki.
Gigs (low - light up to 3200 iso), family events, studio, plenty of location shoots and even the odd holiday. In the end I only used the 5D when I wanted my...
