Bah, nevermind, probably won't see my message in time, looks like I'll have to stick to my borrowed 50mm, this is going to be a ball ache, what with trying to take group shots in a cramped hall from about 10 meters away!
Sent him one already, will keep fingers crossed, just thought someone might know him and be able to give him a nudge, he'll read this thread and think I'm a stalker.
They look like they would be an alright compromise but I don't like the f4.0 - 5.6 range, 2.8 would be great.
This always happens when I look at camera gear, I just keep talking myself in to spending more money.
Does anyone have some example shots of the same photo shot with and without a lens hood? I don't have any lens hoods, I only have a 50mm and I'm looking at a 17-50mm, so I'm not sure if I need one.
Good idea, nice and simple. I get annoyed when I'm at a track and my bag keeps falling off so I usually just take a back pack or resort to setting it on the floor, annoying when you're constantly on the move for the next shot though!
Just looked at rental prices and it doesn't seem worth it, so I'll just have to struggle with the 50!
Another question: I hear that the 'non-VC' version of the Tamron is better than the 'VC' version, could someone clarify this for me?
Thanks
Hmm, I did think about hiring but it's expensive for just a few days!
Is the Tamron 17-50 really all that much better than the Canon 18-55? If it is then I suppose I could save up for a little longer but I'll have to either hire or struggle with a 50mm at this graduation.
