I also forgot to say, the 70 -300 loses sharpness above 200mm anyway, so an interpolated upsized crop from the 70-200 will be sharper than the 70-300 at 300mm anyway.
I upgraded from a 70-300IS to a 70-200 f4L, the difference is staggering, contrast and sharpness are greatly improved. I don't miss the IS for motorsports but it would be useful for non moving objects.
Hi, I've got one of these. Yes the display can be switched off and just have an image review after shot.
The image in the viewfinder is slightly smaller than what the sensor see's through the lens so composition can be a bit tricky.
The AF is quite slow compared to an SLR and the time...
Here's an image taken at ISO 800 the 1st is the full image resized to fit here, the 2nd is a 100% crop of the centre.

Not up to SLR quality but I think it's pretty good for a compact.
I downloaded a codec pack last night that covers most manufacturer's RAW files. Windows gallery can now see my Canon RAW files
