Used D90 and good lens, or new D5200 and kit lens?

The D90's still an extremely capable camera by any standards. I upgraded from a D90 to a D7100 but as Mark said above, decided to keep it because quite frankly it's worth naff all really and if I ever wanted another body I couldn't replace it with anything better for the money I'd get from it...

Nikon D810, grey 'vs' UK stock

I was told by them that they would honour the one year warranty but not the extended three year one. Indeed my D7100 grey import is registered with them for that purpose.

Sigma 150 500mm f/5 6.3 DG OS HSM APO Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF

Had one for a while now and can't fault it for the price. No doubt there are better, sharper lenses out there, but they're hugely more expensive. It's harder to get good shots from, but mainly down to it's size and weight. It doesn't like low light very much and you get best results with good...

Nikon D810, grey 'vs' UK stock

Love the way the thread about grey imports has suddenly become about tax avoidance and everyone seems to assume it's done to illegally get round paying taxes. I can't speak for everyone else, but I paid import duty and VAT on both the items I grey imported and wasn't allowed to pick them up from...

Nikon D810, grey 'vs' UK stock

Easy to answer, I bought a grey import D7100 and a grey import 150-500 Sigma lens from eGlobal. Would do it again every time.

    More reach

@minnnt David, not sure what lenses you're considering, but if you fancy a jaunt down to Ely one weekend, I've got the 150-500 Sigma, we could go for a wander into the local woods, river, lakes etc and you could give it a try on your body. I use it on a D7100 so right fitting etc.

    Flickr Pro vs Free

Stopped paying for Flickr Pro early last year and the only thing I miss (slightly) is the stats page. Everything else I need I can do just fine.

What did you get for Christmas ?

Someone kindly gave me the flu followed by spending two days over Xmas in bed. Which being the lazy git I am, normally would be ace, but two days shivering and sweating with hot and cold flushes, coughing my guts up constantly, nose streaming etc etc was not my idea of fun  :$

BBC Earth update.. it made it-link added

Most editor programs have an "options" or similar button when you go to save it as a jpg, most software by default won't have this set to the highest quality (lowest compression) and that's likely why your file size is shrinking more than you'd expect. Open your original image, make your...
