I stick B+W 007 nano MRC clear filters in front of all my lenses for protection. They are fairly expensive but don't degrade image quality from my testing where as I have definitely noticed some degradation from some UV lenses that I've tried.

As I use an EVF the histogram is extremely useful to me. I can see if I'm blowing the highlights before I even press the shutter.

I use a think tank Sling-O-Matic for my X-Pro 1 with 3 lenses (one on camera), two speedlites, a speedlite transmitter and other bits and bobs. Works a right treat!
