I have just been doing some white backdrop shooting... using two 200W flash heads on the backdrop with barn doors to control it..
And then a single flash up front with a brolly and...
I found 2m just too narrow for anything other than standing poses or portrates... 3m gives you a LOT more versatility in terms of poses etc... I also found it easier to control the light on a larger drop... maybe its just me and my lack of skill
Assuming you have enough space to fit the adapter in... yes... it would work...
I had a similar problem myself.... so I bought the components from Rapid Electronics and made up my own sync cables.... even made a splitter box so I can have up to 6 lights firing fron one trigger :)
Yup... good idea.... Am trying to find some more recievers to work with my trigger... I cant stop the flash heads triggering them selves through the slave sensor though.... GRRR!!!
That is going to depend on what lighting you have, how hard wearing you want it to be.... loads of factors....
If I was setting up a large perminant studio I would be tempted to use vinyl painted matt black... But for portable stuff I use a cotton cloth...

They have a space 10x20m wide for me to use, only problem is... It is actually part of the main dining room/disco area...
