I've had an A9 and A7r4a and now have an A9ii. I shoot mainly wildlife but also sports. Get an A9 or A9ii, af tracking is like witchcraft and blackout free shooting.
I like my Manfrotto 468 hydrostatic ballhead but would still recommend the 410 junior geared head for macro work. It has excellent micro adjustment in 3 separate planes.
I prefer to use my Manfrotto 410 junior geared head for macro work, mounted on my 055 tripod. I've tried this set up with the centre column swung out and it is too heavy even for the 055. ( Canon 1dx, 100L, 410 head and sometimes a macro rail) try holding that lot at arms length. I also have a...
My Sony 200-600 is at f/6.3 when fully extended and will AF at f/9 when I use my sony 1.4x converter so you are probably right. It probably depends on the camera body though. I know the Canon 7d will not AF over f/5.6 but the 7d2 will AF at f/8 using the centre focus point.
I compared my Kenko 1.4x DG (not dgx) with my Canon 1.4 mk2 a few years back and found it very acceptable in terms of how it performed, speed of AF, sharpness. One difference I did notice was that the Canon mk2 tc had better colour and contrast than the kenko. This could however be corrected...
I'm glad I dont live that close to WEX, my missus would divorce me [emoji23]. Not a bad price for a mk2 from a dealer tbh, you could get one for around £115/£120 but for ease and peace of mind it's worth it. Why dont you take your gear in with you and try it out in the store before deciding to...
7d2 can be bought new for less than 1k now and is the obvious upgrade to a 7d. It is better all round than the mk1. Ok it is a bit old itself now but it is a camera well suited to sports as it has a good AF system. Newer technology might lead you to look at the 90d which I'm sure would cope as...
There is barely no difference between the mk2 and mk3 1.4x teleconverters in image quality and performance. There is in price though. With a 1.4x on you shouldn't see hardly any difference in the speed of AF and image quality on your 70-200, and you will still have f/4.
I did some testing with my 70-200 mk2 and 2x converter mk2 on a 5d3 a few years back comparing it with my Canon 100-400 L mk1. I thought image quality was slightly better on the 70-200 and 2x but it was marginal. AF was much slower with the 70-200 & 2x combo though. I sold the 100-400 mk1 and...
Hi, I am thinking of getting a tripod with a geared centre column for my macro work. It would need to support a manfrotto geared head and slider rail, Canon 1dx and 100mm macro lens. I'd be interested to hear your recommendations.
Extension tubes could get you closer but you would lose infinity focus if anything tasty flew over birdwise. You might also want to try focus stacking to give you a larger DOF
I have a set of Hitech grads and find they do have a slight cast. I did buy a 2nd hand Lee filter holder which is very good quality and saved me a bit. I am thinking that I might buy replacement Lee filters grads singly to replace the hitech ones and then sell them on to someone at the camera club.
Most people tend to go a bit mad with the milky water effect and have it looking more like smoke rather than water. Once you have found a good location try a range of different shutter speeds from about half a second onwards. It doesn't cost you anything if you don't like the effect.
I tend to agree with Phil V with regard to his choice. I have owned the 100 L and deemed it to be the sharpest of all my lenses. I have hankered for a tilt shift and know someone who uses one for event photography. He claims it to be very very good.
