    Nikon D7xxx owners thread

Cheers to that. Nice read, that article :) As for AF Fine Tuning, yesterday I found out that my D7000 with the 35mm 1.8 gave best results when set to -20. I had been arguing with the camera since the day I got it, because of focusing issues...

    Nikon D7xxx owners thread

The street sweeper looks like a bargain. I was originally looking to buy the new f/4 version, but my budget got reduced a bit. I will give the AF-D version a look. The earlier VR version seems to be trash, though. As for the battery, I have found myself now charging it while it shows one...

    nikon 17-55 f2.8 vs. 24-70 f2.8

The 24-70, I don't think so. The 17-55 could get VR though to match the competition, as Canon's 17-55 f/2.8 does have IS.

    60D with Wireless flash

Not sure about the 60D, but check that the remote flash is in it's regular position (aka not tilted), as, at least with my Sony flash, High Speed Sync is only possible with the flash on it's regular position.

Nikon 18-105 - plastic or metal mount?

The D5100 doesn't have a built in focus motor. It may be newer and smarter, but in terms of features, I would say your D90 is better.

What's Santa bringing you for Christmas this year?! ;D

Already got mine. Nikon D7000 with AF-S 35mm f/1.8. That's half of it though. The 16-85 VR will come in January. :D

    35mm f/1.4

I wasn't clear  When I said not so solid I meant, it's not weather sealed, and all. Not that it's not well made.

    Walkaround lens...

If low-light shooting is important, how about the 17-55 f/2.8 IS? Used one on a friend's 7D today, I quite liked it.

    nikon 17-55 f2.8 vs. 24-70 f2.8

I've used the 17-55 and it's a wonderful lens on DX, but I would expect the 24-70 to perform even better, as it's a top of the line lens, and is much newer. Nikon's alphabet soup comes to mind. Nano Crystal Coating, and all of that gibberish is on the 24-70, and not on the 17-55. Though, if you...

    Walkaround lens...

The 24-105L is a wonderful lens, though, if you would like something in a similar range, I think the EF-S 15-85mm performs a bit better than the 17-85. And you do get a little wider.

Well, finally bought my new camera, lens advice please!

Get the Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7. Wonderful little lens, and I think you can get them for around £50 used. I used one on my A290 and it was fantastic!

    35mm f/1.4

Haven't touched either, but the Samyang 35/1.4 has pretty amazing reviews. If you can make do with the not so solid build and manual focus, I would get that, as it's half the price... Not sure how it compares to the Canon version, but I've read that it has sharper corners and better bokeh when...

Nikon 18-105 - plastic or metal mount?

For Nikkor glass, the 18-55, 55-200 and 18-105 are plastic. Oh, and the 18-135 too. All the other ones are metal though, if I recall correctly.

    Nikon D7xxx owners thread

Hello all. I got my D7000 just about a week ago, with a 35mm 1.8 DX lens. I'm on the market now for a general purpose lens, and would go for the 24-120 f/4 VR, but my budget got limited. So I'm currently looking at the 16-85 VR and 18-200 VR. Leaning towards the 16-85 for IQ and optical quality...

Show us yer film shots then!

Only ones I have that are worth showing hahaha Kodak Pro 100 on Nikon F3. First image was using a Nikon Series E 50mm 1.8 prime, and second image was using a Nikkor AIS 80-200mm f/4.5. I want some Delta 125 but it's so darn hard to find here! Odd one out by Hisdem, on Flickr Impact by...
