    Hi8 to PC?

:bonk: doh, now why didn't I think of Windows Movie Maker for the video capture. I had checked all my other video editing software, but was thinking I would need to buy something specifically for this job. What makes it even worse is, I was using WMM not so long ago for editing video footage...

    Hi8 to PC?

My apologies if this is in the wrong section. I want to transfer some video footage from an Hi8 camcorder to my PC. I was told a Dazzle would be just what I needed, but after reading up on these (as you do) and other makes of the same or similar thing, there always seems to be one person at...

Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord 2?

Nothing like replying to your own post  Panic now over. All working now just as if the flash was fitted direct to the hot shoe  Chris.

Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord 2?

I have just bought a secondhand Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord 2. I am wondering if the camera should still recognise the Canon Speedlite 430EX mk11 flash gun on the camera menu? when using the off shoe cord, as it does not. The flash fires off OK, and the ETTL seems to be working as it should...

I think I'm losing my marbles!

WilliamC, thanks for your input. I like the bit about the moon  Chris.

I think I'm losing my marbles!

Stuart, thanks for having a look. Your mention of a P&S camera reminded me I'd not checked any photo's from mine, as it's not one I use very often, but still nothing showing. Chris.

I think I'm losing my marbles!

No worries Andy. I don't think it's going to make any difference if you did post up your findings anyway, from what you're saying. Thanks for getting back to me  I'm running Windows XP. If I find out anymore I'll let you know. Chris.

I think I'm losing my marbles!

Andy, Out of interest did you see the "subject distance" tag as in this information below, although obviously it's not showing here as it's one of mine? Chris.

I think I'm losing my marbles!

Many thanks to Andy, Oskar, Alastair, and Richard for reassuring me I'm not cracking up  After reading your reply Alastair I suddenly had a brain-wave, I thought it might have been from a friends photo's I have on my PC, but still nothing showing. I then thought it might have been from...

I think I'm losing my marbles!

This is rather embarrassing for me, but I'm sure (like 99%) very recently I noticed from the properties tab on each of my jpeg file photo's, that the summary information included the distance from camera to subject  It's not so much I need that information, but as it's not there...

    Help, new dslr

You've frightened off the OP :D My recommendation would be to invest a little of your £1000 first in your local college (evening classes) to find out more about the capabilities of your existing camera. I think that will give you more of an idea what your needs/wants will be, and show up what...

Off Camera Shoe Flash Sync Cord

Thanks Dayve for your thoughts on this matter. I had looked into a flash bracket, although none of the ones I had been looking at were quite as sophisticated as the Lastolite flip flash bracket. The one that caught my eye was made by Lvshi if I remember correctly, it looked fairly straight...

Off Camera Shoe Flash Sync Cord

I think it was the press guys on the TV that gave me the impression my Stofen type diffuser was only really suitable for facing the subjects, but of course they're normally outdoors ;) I'm pleased I now know different. Thanks for the tip on the up/forward ratio adjustment of the flash head...

Off Camera Shoe Flash Sync Cord

I am intending to get a copy of The Speedliters Handbook, even better with another recommendation. No laughing mind ;) but I do have a basic Soften-type diffuser cap, it never occurred to me that it would allow a small percentage of light to hit my subject with the flash pointing straight up...

Off Camera Shoe Flash Sync Cord

Mark, thanks for the info. I did wonder if the softer the light the closer it would need to be, Chris.
