Help, In two weeks will be a Night Rally here...

Don't practice on the general public in cars at night with a flash... one way or another you'll either really p*ss someone off & it might land you in trouble or cause an accident... the rally drivers should be used to it, how I don't know but I've seen them driving at top speed through a wall of...

    Polarising filter

Yup... you'll notice that the light changes as you spin it (circular or linear).

    Polarising filter

I've used both circular & linear on both Fuji (s602) & Canon (350D & A85) cameras with no detremental effect on the AF. On the Canons with the linear, however, you have to adjust the exposure to compensate as the metering can't cope with it (apparently it uses a type of polariser in the metering...

    Bats!!! the winged variety!

Go to Australia... they're a lot bigger & dead easy to spot... & there's loads of them... Took this & many others with my A85 at 400iso at dusk in Port Douglas... boy do they make a racket. (technically speaking I think they're flying foxes but there's various arguements I heard to...

    Faulty camera? Faulty lens?

Ahhh... cheers, I was looking for one of those refering to DSLR's... I thought mirror lock-up was the same as sensor cleaning, but cleaning shifts the shutter as well. Guess I've been hanging around compacts too long.

    Faulty camera? Faulty lens?

Erm... forgive my ignorance on this... are you refering to mechanical curtains?... surely a digital SLR only has a mirror which flips up (my 350 does)... unlike film the sensor shouldn't start recording 'till this has happened... then the mirror pops back into place. To me it does sound like...

    Sensor cleaning stuff

Plastic knives might be a bit too stiff... beleive me I know you're goin to be careful but I'd hate for something to go wrong... I used the rubber section stripped off a spatula & cut to size.

    Tips for cleaning camera

... unless you own a 1Ds in which case you can take it in the bath/shower with you or pop it in the dishwasher... :stupid: (no responsibility will be accepted by any hedgehogs for anyone foolish enough to follow this advice)

    Manchester Architecture

The subject of BBC photo submissions has been discussed at length in a variety of forums & it still sounds a little dodgy to me. If it was a competition where you could come out with something at the end of it then fair enough... you have a pic that otherwise is doing nothing but maybe hanging...

    Sensor cleaning stuff

If it's only when using your zoom it might not be sensor dust... do the blobs turn up when you use another lens? The blobs would be in exactly the same place on all files (unless of course theyre being blown around when you change lenses) irrespective of how much you're zoomed in.

    Sensor cleaning stuff

Hi GSV, I made a spatula myself... from a, erm, 50p spatula from Ikea... took a Stanley knife to it & it works fine... did away with the handle bit as it got in the way & I couldn't see what I was doing. ... & the only bit of the pec pad you need to avoid touching is the middle bit that...

    Bah!

I was looking for weeks at that lens in 7day... the day I go to buy it & it goes out of stock.... aaaaargh. Been watching ever since & it hasn't changed so I went & bought a 10-22 at LCE... they price matched (read: undercut by £5) Jacobs (who had none in stock) & it came out at only £20 more...

    Canon 350D firmware update

Oops... I heard about this update about a month ago & posted it on another forum... I still haven't loaded it on as I haven't had any probs with it as it is & was waiting just in case something like this started happening. Perhaps I'll wait for 1.0.3 to come out with the fix for the timer switch...
