    SB900 replacement

Honestly, we have 8 x Eneloop Pro's, the black ones and about 20 of the standard white ones. we'll shoot 2000 photos during the day, and I can't remember the last time we had to switch out the pros. I did a wedding yesterday, and I had the V860 on the Z8, no off off-camera stuff just bouncing...

    SB900 replacement

Thanks for all the advice, ended up going for the V860III, a Godox X2T-N and a spare battery. Hoping I can take the hotshoe off the SB900 and replace it after finding the service manual, just didn't fancy doing it 4 days before a wedding :D

    SB900 replacement

Hi all, 15 odd years ago when I started I purchased a couple of SB900 flashes, never had any issues with them so far, but my D700 took a tumble a couple of years ago and one of them flashes was attached. The hotshoe is slightly bent and lose now, and now the wife is shooting with me, I've got...

    Best place for the Z8?

Afternoon, Time to upgrade from the D700/D810 and looking at the z8, but I normally get my gear from Wex but they are out of stock. Where's the next best place to start looking?

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art Lens - issue?

Thanks both, wex came back suggesting a firmware update as well which I've never had to do so something new to learn. As for powering down, this can happen randomly straight after several ok shots so not sure that's it. Will give it a test and see.

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art Lens - issue?

Hi, I bought a Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art Lens for my Nikon cameras at the start of August and I've noticed on rare occasions it's acting oddly. This only happens with OS set to on from what experimenting I've tried- but when you focus on something and you can see the viewfinder kind of...

    Mirrorless - where to start?

Thanks for the feedback so far. Main motivation for moving over is mainly for the wife, she's started training and has tagged along at several weddings recently. The D700 and D810 are fine for me, although I actually prefer the 12mp D700 over the D810, they are just rather bulky for her and...

    Anyway of saving this?

thanks, I'll have a look as it's just the body that needs replacing, the lens itself is fine and still takes good photos

    Anyway of saving this?

From a professional point of view I'll be replacing with new, just have to absorb the extra £500 difference between what the insurance is likely to pay out vs the newer Sigma 70-200 2.8 that's out. For a personal hobbyist walking around lens, it likely wouldn't bother me too much.

    Mirrorless - where to start?

Currently running Nikon dlsr's, wife is looking at getting into to and although I know Nikon Z6 or Z7 makes the most sense, I remember the first Sony Alpha a7 coming out and thinking it looked very impressive. So, ignoring that I've already got Nikon gear, which would you recommend and why...

Best 50mm for a Nikon FX DLSR

Hi, Looking for gift ideas for a friend's partner, he's got a D700 and wants a 50mm lens for it? I'm completely out of the loop on gear so what do people recommend? I've read there's a Sigma 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 that's supposed to be very good for around £450 Thanks

    Anyway of saving this?

Well, I heard back from Sigma the same day, just advised that the lens is no longer supported due to it's age. Just waiting to hear from the insurance. I could likely repair it myself, the ribbon just attaches normally and the 2 parts could likely be glued together and held with black duct...

    SB900 replacement?

I'm not a fan of second hand for professional use, for personal use I have a few second-hand lenses etc as well as the ones I use for weddings, plus, for insurance reasons I'd need something of a similar spec.

    SB900 replacement?

Hi, When I first started out I purchased two SB900's for £400 each and they've served me well for the last 10+ years, however, after an accident last Friday,1 of them is damaged. It still works but the metal plate is slightly off tilt now and it looks wonky on the camera, but as they are now...

    Anyway of saving this?

Yeah id prefer a repair purely because I've had it since new and it's mint. Gets used 6 or 7 times a year, 3 to 5 of which will be weddings. I bought the camera in 2010 for just under 700. Still have all the receipts etc. Second hand prices from a shop seen to be around the 500 mark. If I...
