I have tried using Raw and Jpeg too on various cameras but always using Apple Aperture.
I find the Raw files are initially more dull too but just need a bit of a tweak - contrast/vibrancy/sharpness and they look better than just a jpeg.
Raw files also give you greater scope for recovering...
In my studio I have the regular backdrops with white, grey etc but I also have a (currently breeze block) wall and corner which I want to do something interesting with.

From my own experiences it's about finding people you can work with - I have a number of models/prospective models that we actually help each other a lot.
Have had my share of bad experiences/let downs in the past but you get a feel for how focused in really being a model somebody is - I reckon...
Have you tried lighting from underneath too through an white acylic sheet - you could use much less lighting on the subject (to keep contrast) while still having a white background

I got a vinyl from www.studiokitdirect.co.uk and they offer good service but have just moved to paper and now regret it.
Vinyl is a little cushioned for my concrete floor and feels safer with kids

Has anybody used the Sekonic wireless module with any other radio trigger devices than just the pocket wizard.
I use one that I got from ebay and works fine - one from Hong Kong for £20 or so, just not sure if it uses the same wireless channel etc as a pocket wizard.

Is she reacting to the sound of the camera rather than the flash itself ?
To react to the light would take ultra fast reactions (am sure somebody may tell me it's possible) but isn't a flash something around 1/4000 of a second in duration ?
Try photographing with a Ipod on for a test of my...
What's the most stable back drop stand ?
It doesn't need to be especially portable but robust.
The biggest one I can find is the Manfrotto 1314B, but does anybody have any suggestions ?
Cheers

I had the 85mm F1.8 and loved it and am looking at getting another. Am not sure I would pay nearly 3x for the F1.4 though.
I have moved back to FX from DX so it now makes it a lens I would use again more - on DX I found it a bit tight.

Thanks for all the comments - it sounds like all the lenses talked about are essentially good lenses but it just comes down to the application.
Thinking about the assignments that I have had then 70-200 alongside a 300 would work really well but then at other times a 24-70 along with a 120 to...
How often do I need to shoot above that???
I never realized I needed to facebook 50 times a day from my phone until I could... :)
So perhaps I would if I could. Am intrigued how it would change my event/party type work with much less flash being used.
