Ok I realise now what happened.
Somehow the screen came out while the frame stayed up under the hinge. managed to get it down and now it all makes sense.

Cant seem to be able to figure out how to get the focusing screen to stay in place. I cant seem to see any frame.

Turned on my 5d2 the other day and was oof through the viewfinder.
Removed lens to find a loose piece of square clear frosted plastic the same size roughly as the mirror.
Im getting vignetting through the viewfinder now after taking this out but...

He has a nikon f5. when he drops the film in it doesent automatically wind onto the first shot. he has to press the shutter a few times. the winder works fine after each shutter press, just not directly after film...
85w CFL bulbs are a great way to go these days.
Cheap and cheeful. they emit roughly 400w of light.
Use a ceramic bulb holder on a stand.
Shine into an umbrealla or through a softbox for even better results.
