    Scotland Isle of Arran

Goatfell is nice and the view from the top is supposed to be very good. I didn't climb it when I was there a few years ago. Its a Corbett so between 2,500-3,000 feet to the summit. The bay area at Lochranza and the ruined castle there is also a favourite view of mine. The distillery is quite...

    Sensor Cleaning

I have being meaning to do this for a while as there were marks visible on my sensor. I have a Micro four thirds sensor. After looking at the price of some of these cleaning swabs and doubting the quality of the cheaper ones on amazon/ebay, I decided to try my own method based on some methods I...

Yes it was really a reply to the comment about whether you would get a windows 10 disc with it.

    Confused pc buyer

I have an earlier model of the same machine (Intel Core i5 2.7GHz, 8GB RAM, Same graphics card) I bought mine at PC World and didn't get a Win 10 disk with it. It tells you to make a recovery disc, in my case this required three blank DVDs. I've had mine 18 months now without any problem.

    Laptops...

The biggest difference to speed on a computer that I have noticed is since I installed my SSD (Solid State Drive). My computer now boots up in under 20 seconds and programs load faster as well. PS Elements loads in a third or maybe quarter of the time it did when I was using my old HDD. I...

    British Cycling. Clean or Not?

It looks very much like there is so much of it going on that no one really wants to touch it with a barge pole.

    British Cycling. Clean or Not?

A quick google search reveals that around 9% of the UK population has asthma. Yet it is estimated by Cycling Weekly that 40% of the British Olympic Cycling team has Asthma. Indeed 21% of the British Olympic Team as a whole had asthma. How do we actually know that any of these athletes actually...

I will second that. I would say this is the best run forum I have used on the internet. Very informative and with great images to study and enjoy.

Amazon UK supplied me with a grey import - what to do?

Amazon are cheap and cheerful. You have to be careful buying from them, more so now than in the past. I was going to buy a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone from an ebay seller only to find out it was a grey import from Hong Kong, I purchased from Amazon instead. I received my phone from Amazon and it has...

Aurora forecast for new years eve.

Aurora Service EU seem to estimate it will peak at around 3-6pm on the 30th December, I don't know how accurate their forecasts are though. At that time the Aurora is forecast to be kp6. See link http://www.aurora-service.eu/aurora-forecast/

    Computer Help

Do you have a Microsoft account or when you log in do you use a local login? I had a problem with updating on Windows 10 and it seemed to be due to my windows account. I reset my computer and switched to a local login account on the advice of a helpline (PC World). This resolved it for me but...

Ive not really spoken to him about that, he only bought it on Saturday. Though I guess HP would be better in that regard.

Is this laptop good value for money/decent spec?

I don't know how much these things matter but i3 is quite an old processor. That said for general web browsing you probably don't need any more. My 5 year old (now kaput) laptop was an i5. It cost £450 5 years ago. Recently my brother purchased an i7 laptop out of John Lewis for £500. LINK
