    Perseids Meteor Shower tonight......12th Aug

For those people looking for dark skies, I found this link to a light pollution map you can load into Google Earth: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=281664 I'm in south Herts (St. Albans) - so quite a drive for me to get out to anywhere reasonable. Looks like...

    D90 Owners Thread - Anything D90 related

I second what martsharm said, when I got my 50mm I was frustrated with how 'tight' it was on my D90.

    D90 Owners Thread - Anything D90 related

Can anyone recommend some wireless triggers for my D90 and SB600? A friend has recommended some PT04's, while cheap I read they have trouble over 10m. Then I found PocketWizards and RadioPoppers - certainly 3 steps up financially, not sure how much strobist work I'll be doing other than...

Other than the course ford1 mentioned, has anyone here taken one they can recommend?

    Natural density filters/ grads

A Cokin H250a should do the job for a GND kit. Some on here will swear by the Lee or Singh filters but I've not found many faults with Cokin so far, though they're hard to keep dust and scratch free. FYI it's neutral density btw. I think you'll find the GND of more use than the ND. I have...

    Computers: More RAM/HDD = Better??

You'd probably feel a noticeable increase in performance by moving to a solid state hard disk. Intel are leading the market still for SSDs, they're not cheap though. Indilinx Barefood controller based drives also perform well. Backup to external USB / Drobo? I use a Mac and regularly backup to...

Wife wants to buy me a mac????

Also, for running Windows and Linux software on your Mac, a free open source alternative is Virtual Box. I've used it for around a year now, great piece of software, easy to install, use and updated frequently. Hope it doesn't go down with Sun (who are looking shaky financially atm!).

Wife wants to buy me a mac????

There's rumoured to be an iMac (and possibly Mac Mini) refresh coming in the next few weeks, as stores have seen supplies of the current generation dry up.

    Website designer required

Sounds like you need a content management system, asking a web designer to produce a site you can then edit in Dreamweaver sounds like a world of pain for both parties. Potentially expensive if you break the site layout, and they have to fix it after your updates. Drupal / Joomla are example...

    CS4 advice

I presumed you were talking about Photoshop btw. Lightroom you can just get stuck in and move the sliders around to see what effect it has on your image. Some effects, like luminescence noise reduction, will require 100% zoom to see a difference.

    CS4 advice

There's several tutorials available on YouTube which I found helpful. I started off reading tutorials online and subscribing to photoshop magazine (when I was a web designer). Using it day in day out for 5 years helped too. Start with some online tutorials and get stuck in. Cloning or simple...

    Insurance for going abroad

Sorry to dig up an old thread. Thought I'd post this here for reference. I can recommend Adrian Flux contents insurance. They're a broker and my actual policy is with Axia but they'll cover my camera worldwide for 60 days with a single item limit of £2000 (if not specified). My premium was...

    Camera Insurance

I'm with Adrian Flux for home insurance (tenants), who are a broker (for me) to Axia. I called them today and confirmed they'd cover my camera equipment when going abroad. Apparently my policy includes worldwide cover with a 60 day £2000 single item limit and the only named item I've specified...
