    Canon 7D mk2 owners thread.

I have to say that I totally agree with the view put by NeilB quoted above, Owning both 5D3 and 7D2 I find it much easier to get consistent results from the 5D3 in terms of accurate focus. Still persevering with the AF case options, Neil

So what's all the fuss with Fuji then?

Love my canon DSLR's and big telephotos for wildlife , great autofocus, tracking sped etc... and full frame is full frame . Love my little fuji XT1 and 100s for out and about, easy to carry, great image quality, and old fashioned controls fabulous. I have invested in both systems to get the...

    Canon 7D mk2 owners thread.

Quick update, for my 500mm f4 set the micro adjust to +6 in the end. Not the best light this morning, nothing worth framing, but this has re-centred the focal plane so much higher rate of in focus shots. Also still focuses at infinity. Must admit did eel like I was in the Circle of Confusion...

Gaz, Canon Bob, Thanks for replies, never had to fiddle with either the old 7d or 5diii so a little trepidation having heard the stories of poor focusing, anyway will test in the real world tomorrow and report back, Neil

    Canon 7D mk2 owners thread.

Having just seen Phal's note above, Been out a couple of times with my 500mmF4 on the 7Dii. Trying out the ISO, 1600 -2000, 5 m range small birds in garden , I have to say quality is much better than my 7D so big plus. However too many poorly focused shots. Am using single spot on the eye...

    Canon 7D mk2 owners thread.

I have been following this thread for a while and finally made the decision to purchase the 7d ii (from HDEW, my third body from them). I have used a 7D, since 2011 ,for my birding/wildlife shots with a Caonon 400mm 5.6 and the 500 mm f4. Like many others the only disappointment in the UK is...

    Tripod head for landscapes

Roy, Have tried a number of heads but for landscape the old traditional 3 way panning head works best, allows you to set the level for horizon etc... and then reframe left right etc... without having to reset horizon. Go for one with a big adapter plate as they e.g. rc4 on the manfrotto line up...

    lens for bird photography

From memory it's 3.5m, reality is you will struggle to get much closer to wild birds unless you are in a hide, so never had an issue. The 500mm is 4.5 m min distance, If you want to photograph ducks in the park then you will get close, so a 70-200 zoom will suffice. Neil

    lens for bird photography

Go for the Cannon 400 mm 5.6. It is the sharpest lens for the money, very fast autofocus, and good for bif shots. You could try a zoom but I bet you now that most of your shots will be at the long end. I faced the same decision as you a couple of years ago, went for the 400 having been given...

    Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

Took the plunge over the holiday, popped into Digital Depot, and popped out with the XE-1 and kit lens. I have a Canon 5dmkii and a 7d (normally attached to a telephoto for wildlife shots) both great cameras, but big lumps, and somehow I always seem obliged to take a heap of kit when I am out, I...
