does glass really make that much difference

Does glass make a difference if your only taking web shots, 6x4 or A4 prints. I have 3 L lenses one being huge to lug around mounted on a 5D Mk II. Just ordered a pentax K7, sealed against weather with no lens. Contemplating sticking the kit lens zoom water resistant version on that I can quite...

    Carl Zeiss Sharpness

The more I think about it the less inclined I am to use manual focus due to my aging years and varifocals. In the days when I used film cameras I had no problems using manual focus. Maybe I should calibrate my series of L canon lenses to the camera, if thats what is commonly performed?

    Carl Zeiss Sharpness

Interested in the 35mm F2 (user review USA http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&sku=658553&Q=&is=REG&A=details#reviews) seems to think a lot better than canon 35mm 1.4. . Few 100£s cheaper from USA although maybe import tax.

    Carl Zeiss Sharpness

Been looking at the EF mount ZE Carl Zeiss lenses where all electrical connections for metering etc work although you need to focus manually. I want the ultimate sharpness mounted on a 5D MKII. The M42 mount is a bit limiting. Anyone used the ZE version. Would I notice much difference in...

Warning - Keep images on card

Good lesson for me. Found the Recuva software really useful (tried it on hard disk). I had formatted card so no images found. Didn't really matter as went back to the zoo today and managed to get better shots of a tiger. I understand a lot of people like lightroom but I wasn't keen on it having...

Warning - Keep images on card

Went to the zoo today in cool damp conditions and snapped many different animals. Loaded CF card via lightroom beta, selected all and imported photos. When this was completed without viewing downloaded pictures I erased CF card. Looking again at Lightroom I was horrified to see that only 20% of...

    Composition of HDR cornfield

DynamicPhoto HDR is a bit cheaper than the photomatic HDR full version. So likely get the Dynamic. Thanks for all your comments

    Composition of HDR cornfield

Thanks all. Thought the 1st was a bit tight. All I need to do now is purchase the full version of HDR software to remove trial information

    Composition of HDR cornfield

This HDR cornfield in Lincoln I was thinking of blowing this up to 36x24 inches (have an old frame). I have cropped it slightly to improve the compisition (bottom taken out). I was wondering what others views are on the composition and would it do anything for you. The quality of this web upload...

    Lens calculator

Lens Calculator. http://www.sweeting.org/mark/lenses/canon.php. Found this link by accident. Fairly old but maybe of use to someone. I can't use it on my work PC so unable to assess its usefulness, if any.

    Canon 70-200mm f4 non IS

I have the 70-200 F4 non IS and was contemplating getting the 2.8 IS. Lots of analysis, times I would use the 2.8,cost, weight & visibility when walking around.. The F4 lens is beautiful. Decided instead to get the canon 5DMkII so can shoot if necessary at a higher ISO

    Canon 5D Image quality

I have the 50D, 5D and recently acquired a 5D MkII. Like the photos on the 50D and better reach (1.6x crop) with long zoom. The infor screen on the 5D is a bit aged and dull compared to the 5d Mk II & 50D, but takes exceptional pictures and easy to use. The menu, knobs and lay out are vertically...
