Hi & welcome to the forum, for the kit you have the results are pretty good & it looks like you have a level of basic photography to be able to move on.If you intend to photograph mainly motorsport then I would recommend a body upgrade to a 7d, its what I use as a spare body but I end up using it...
Anyone heading to the BSB round expect to get a good soaking, just checked the weather & it looks a fairly good chance of rain on all 3 days:thumbsdown:.
Might be a few sunny spells on Friday/Saturday late afternoon.
It's my local track & to be honest I'd rather drive 250 miles to Cadwell or Oulton than photograph there.Your pretty limited on access as Andy said two thirds of the circuit is out of bounds. The only really good photographic spots are totally full by 9 o clock even on practice days.So unless...
When Canon launched the 1d mkiv I went to a demo day & was lucky to pick up a Canon guide to settings.I was told these basic setting were suitable for nearly all Canon bodies & I pretty much use this as my bible.Link to site...
Dex , I use the 19 point AF in Al Servo mode & also use several of the custom function settings in autofocus/drive.Al sevrvo tracking needs to be set for slow, continuous AF track priority & I also set focus search to off.If you can get to the BSB round at Brands I'll give you a heads up.
Well said Glen:thumbs:
At the end of the day every photographer is individual & what they feel makes a good photo may not be the same as yours, it all come down to personal taste.
The Club complex just befor the start finish should be fine with a 55-250 as would the outside of Campbell. The grass bank just infront of the Comentry tower gets very bussy with togs even on practice day & on raceday is pretty much full by 8 o clock.Other than that you could try from the inside...
For portraits of drivers & paddock babes I'll go with my 70-200 but for the rest either my 17-40 or usually a 24-105.It all depends on what shot your after really.
First rate camara for motorsport:clap:, I use landscape for picture style & #4 lens drive when AF impossible set to 1; focus search off.Get some pics up when you start using it:thumbs:
I hate to say it but the answer is pretty simple....move.To capture a perfect shot regardless of what it is your taking the general rule is to have the sun behind you.I fully understand it is not always possible to achieve this & even after 20 years of photography I still struggle to nail shots...
:plusone:
Only need one for big primes....400 f2.8, 500 f4 etc anything less & you look like a bit of a :schtum:.I've been known to shoot hand held @ 500th with a 500 f4 while balancing on a wheelie bin althoe I don't reccomend this:D
Yeah this is the norm I think there is a noise issue & can only run a limited number of days on the full curcuit.I only go on Friday as I can get to the inside of Druids & a couple of my secret spots without the crowds on Sunday.
