The UK's first wet plate collodion weekend meet up is happening on saturday and sunday in the scottish borders. A pile of the UK's practioners, myself included, will be descending on Rubislaw Campsite just outside Hawick. I am sure that no-one would mind if interested parties popped over to see...

    Impressed with iphone 4S camera

I wouldn't giggle. Would you giggle if they said they used a pinhole camera? Or an old 35mm rangefinder? Just what level of camera is required for you to be able to call yourself a photographer? The tool used to make the image is pretty irrelevant. There are plenty of folk who use iPhones...

Is the gap between a mobile phone image and a DSLR Image so great?

yes it seems to have gone a bit random since last time I looked. His portraits were great, as are many of the shots from the film series...ig you can find that part of the site!

Is the gap between a mobile phone image and a DSLR Image so great?

it's a slit scanning app. If you've seen the images that Jeff Bridges does with his old wide screen slit scan analogue film camera It's sort of works a bit like that except you can vary the aperture of the slit and some other stuff. It's lo res though. an example of one of the first weirdo...

Is the gap between a mobile phone image and a DSLR Image so great?

Stewart, yes that is partly it. I found that when i started using the iphone (for a photo a day for a month) just after i got it. I quickly developed a style. Similar to the one I had with my dslr stuff but perhaps more graphic and bold. The limited capabilities helped me in that regard...

Is the gap between a mobile phone image and a DSLR Image so great?

Yes, in my case I am. I am not a photoshop god. If you look at my 500px stuff. A lot if it involves post processing. When i had my DSLR I used photoshop but I never really did compositing and layering multiple images or stitching stuff together. With my iphone I do and I find it simple. The apps...

Is the gap between a mobile phone image and a DSLR Image so great?

i don't need acknowledgement that iphones are capable of taking good photographs. I know they do. I do like a bit of validation that folk like the images I produce though. That was the case when I used a DSLR and a compact camera and a medium format film camera. I suspect that a lot of the...
