    Best focal length for airshows?

I've used the Tamron 18-270 at Airshows and found it very hit or miss with focus. The ones that are hit are not too bad but they usually need to be cropped right in. Just got the canon 80D with the 18-130 lens and this produced much better results than the Tamron but again needed to be cropped...

Yes, i've tired the Tamron on the 80D and i was less than impressed. Not sure if it's the lens/camera combination, lenses has been dropped or it's simply not as good as the 18-135 USM. The 18-135 USM, produces much sharper images so found on holiday i was better using this and just cropping.

A couple from the Tour of Britain yesterday. Still learning the camera, but should have used the zoom more rather than cropping! _MG_9028.jpg by Andrew Gough, on Flickr _MG_9138.jpg by Andrew Gough, on Flickr

Thanks Steve, I'm pleased with how they turned out. Must admit, I did have lens envy! Spent Sunday morning googling 150-600mm lenses, maybe next year. It was a shame about the the conditions think the sun came out for a few minutes and a little blue sky appeared enough to to get sun burnt, not...

Took the new 80d to RIAT this weekend for it's first outing, have to say very impressed! Started off using my Tamron 18-270mm and wasn't impressed with the result, focus was very slow and a lot of the photos just didn't seem to be in focus, think there's possibly a few issues with the lens...

Just upgraded to the 80d from a 500d. Order from Panomoz last Wed morning and it arrived Friday morning, fantastic services. Not had chance to test it out properly yet but a quick mess about over the weekend and i'm very impressed. I went for the 18-135 option which went up in price on Friday by...

How to Take Stunning Pictures On TV

Agreed - i expected a little info on some of the setting used to get these photos. I watched last weeks on landscapes and he just mentioned using a filter, not what filter, no wonder the guy was using his sun glasses!
