Just wander around - the streets of London are great for photography. For plants / animals, go to the parks; head over to St James Park and there will be squirrels in abundance ready to feed off of your hands.

My guess is that if you get the 24-70 it'll be too heavy and you'll start debating on which tripod to get.. Seriously, if you can't take pictures with what you've got already; no amount of new tech will help you. Maybe you should instead look for the love of photography before stocking up on stuff?
