    Winter Wildlife Trip?

Got a few places on my winter photour "bucket list" - Yellowstone, Iceland, northern Norway, Antarctic (when I win the lottery). So, any experiences of tour outfits to the above, particularly Yellowstone? Lots of folks on web bu I know from experience that there are phototours and there are...

Anyone got experience of "CPES" for repairs?

Dropped a Nikon Pro lens and ended with insurers. They want to use a company called CPES in Staff as "we always use them" and they quoted 60% of the Fixation quote. I'm nervous as they're not on the Nikon Authorised Repair Centre list and, when I rang them, the chap "didn't think anyone was...

    I hate Fuji!

That looks good at high ISO. Makes you wonder why we cart all this DSLR gear around really.

"Do it yourself" Nature Photography Holiday - Recommendations?

If you're after birds in particular, you'll need to do a bit of research into the month you plan to go. Seabird colonies are extremely seasonal (there's a decent 4 week window to get the best puffin shots before they head back to sea) and summer migrants get terribly secretive after breeding as...

    birding/wildlife locations in North London.

The RSPB set up public viewing from the south side of Millenium Bridge each spring and put a webcam on the nest. They say the birds tend to perch on the leeward side of the chimney!

    birding/wildlife locations in North London.

And if you venture into town, there's the famous peregrine site near the Tate Modern, and the east end often sees Black Redstarts in season.

All my garden birds are gone...

I'd give the feeders a clean to be on the safe side (make sure you've not managed to give them salmonella or trichomoniasis) but put them back out. BTO report many blackbirds take a sabbatical from garden feeders when other foods are plentiful and as other say it has been very mild. To keep your...

Fox for baiting Buzzards (contains dead fox pic)

TBH bin / bury it. Plenty of dead foxes and badgers round here and even the crows don't touch them once the eyes are gone.

    NIKON D4 announced

It was always going to be thus when Nikon already had the class leader with the D3s and Canon playing catchup with the 1DX. Not sure the D4 is going to be significantly better to drive huge numbers of existing D3s owners to upgrade so us amateurs may have to wait awhile for discount second hand...

    Baiting Buzzards

Thanks for the advice, all. I got some decent shots of them this morning after leaving a tent hide out for a few days. They seem to come to this same area each morning where they are feeding on earthworms! Maybe I should have gone to a fishing tackle shop instead. Here's a couple of the shots...

    Baiting Buzzards

Got plenty of both - next door to game shooting estate! Just wonder if there are too many natural ones about for Mr Buzzard to come to me or if Mr Fox will get there first (I'm not staying out overnight with a trip - well not just yet!)

    Baiting Buzzards

I've got a local buzzard and set up a hide near one of its local haunt, but does anyone have any experience of baiting / feeding them? I'm a bit nervous as I would hate to get a bird used to carrion only to have an unscrupulous neighbour leave poison bait. I also heard that they don't come...

    rare lenticular clouds in Leeds

Actually, these clouds aren't so rare. I'm also a glider pilot and have countless hours flying up the front of these beauties. In Yorkshire, there are useful (ie not overcast or blowing a hoolie) waves many times a year. They're more unusual the further south you go as the hills that trigger...
