My pretty simple but reliable method to obtain "what you see is what you get" is as follows.
Firstly, most computer monitors produce fairly accurate colours in the first place and more importantly do not actually drift much with time.
So with that in mind, do the following:

I'm looking to possibly purchase the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM, but I've heard barrel distrortion is "worse than expected" from a L series lenes.

For wedding work then the 5dII is probably the sensible choice, good low light capability, full frame sensor for nice DOF work and very useful custom pre-sets, making changing camera setings from in-church low light to outdoor sunlight a breeze!

Every first dance is different, some are very dark, some quite "light and airy". A good idea is to get the happy couple to have a mock fiirst dance for you as soon as they arrive at the reception, whilst the guests are in the bar!! here you can try a number of different set-ups.
