What is the fascination with angling motor sport photo's ?

I'd question that. You tend to get a lot of architecture and street shots that are angled in order to give interesting compositions.

What is the fascination with angling motor sport photo's ?

Have to say I'm pretty guilty of it. I think it's to add an element of drama to the shot. Especially with track racing it can be hard to get a sense of excitement (it is basically cars just driving in circles). In rallying, or drifting, there's plenty of smoke or dirt flying around to add a...

    Rainer Schlegelmilch Exhibition

Thought this may have been of interest to some people here?... While sitting around, twiddling my thumbs, waiting for the new season to start (still seems too far away! :( ) I spotted this: http://www.gettyimagesgallery.com/exhibitions/archive/freeze-the-speed.aspx Rainer Schlegelmilch has...

    Considering getting Sigma 18-35 f1.8

Yeh, I was a cheapskate and went with an import! :D Got it from Digitalrev. http://www.digitalrev.com/product/sigma-18-35mm-f-1/MTAwMjY1NQ_A_A It's about £100 cheaper than anywhere else and I've heard good things about them. Was a bit of a faff trying to pay for it because my bank thought it was...

    Considering getting Sigma 18-35 f1.8

I bit the bullet and just ordered one. Should arrive by the end of November. Reviews seem pretty good and it seems a very good compromise over two wide angle primes. I wanted something a bit wider than my 24-105, but with the ability to work a lot better in lower light conditions. I found...

Advice on lens for motorsport pictures at Silverstone.

It's worth bearing in mind they use the National circuit for the on track action. This can sort of limit your options. They probably won't open up any grand stands either (other than maybe the BRDC stand on the inside of the circuit at Brooklands), so chances are you're going to be shooting...

    Yet another Silverstone thread...

All from spectator areas. They can be a bit more restrictive where you go depending on the meeting, but all taken from spectator spots. Make sure you stock up on cheeseburgers if you head to the south side of the circuit. Definite lack of burger vans down there! :D Anyway, essay time...

    Yet another Silverstone thread...

Silverstone is great for photography, if you're willing to walk. I cope with 200mm on a crop body 99% of the time. Just wrote a bit of an essay, with spots to shoot from. Can post it if you want. But I just read you like a challenge? May give too much away? :D

    Can we please.....

They're north of me, but I still wouldn't say they're in the north? Especially since it's right next to East MIDLANDS airport. :D Saw this sign at Donington last year at the Britcar night race. Hate to think what Croft must be like!

The Purpose of Photography - A rant!

Interesting discussion going on here... Firstly, I think this forum is fantastic. There are some fantastic photographers on here that I’ve learnt so much from and you can always rely on an honest opinion of whether the “marmite” shot you just posted should’ve just been deleted. :D It can...

Darren Heath video if you have some time to kill....

Not sure if it's been posted anywhere else in the forum yet, but I'm about halfway through watching this and loving it. Great insight into the mind of Darren Heath on Vimeo. Click!

Installing second HDD in Macbook optical bay

I'm looking at doing this too. Don't suppose anyone knows which drive is best to go in which bay? Would you put the SSD in the main bay as a boot drive and then stick the HDD in instead of the optical bay, or the other way round?

8500 Flickr views in a day!

I had a similar thing happen a couple of times. First one was from a Facebook page for this photo. Because it came from facebook it's very hard to work out who posted a link to it. Turns out it was Motionsport's own Facebook page. Only ended up with about 40 views in a day (don't laugh that...

    Mail on Sunday F1 image

Found the article in question on their website Dunganick was right, they were all Darren Heath. To be honest I don't think they chose a very good set to show. But I could happily spend hours on his website. Some absolutely stunning shots on there.

    Hello from Warwickshire

Hi everyone. Been lurking here for a couple of months and finally thought I'd get stuck in. Have only properly been into photography since the start of this year. Purchased a camera for the start of the motorsport season and since then have loved every minute of it. Originally only...
