    Whats your favorite Canon Lens?

I moved from Canon to micro 4/3 years ago and the lens that hurt the most to let go was an old beaten up 300mm f/4 L (non IS). Not too big/heavy, very sharp and contrasty, still good with teleconverters. It just seemed to be a lens that was almost incapable of taking a bad photo (despite being...

Looking at upgrading my ageing kit...APS-C to MFT?

I switched from Canon (my last camera being a 40D) with L lenses to micro 4/3 quite a few years ago, with no regrets. The lenses have been the biggest surprise, with the better ones being every bit as good (or better) than anything I had from Canon, yet so much lighter. One thing I found...

    Shoulder/messenger bag recommendations?

I took one of these (K&F Concept) on a recent trip, and it worked well enough. I believe Peak Design do something similar if you want to spend more :)

photo editing software for Windows 11 ..?

If you want basic and free, perhaps try Paint.NET

A couple of basic post-processing questions

I have DxO PhotoLab (not PureRaw) but, with the better quality noise reduction methods, you don't see the effect of it until you export (e.g. save as JPEG). I guess it takes too much processing power to preview it over the full image. Perhaps try exporting, and see if you can see the results in...

    MPB

Refuse the quote, then perhaps try selling it to Wex - I recently found they were offering better prices on average than MPB, and that's just for a straight sale.

Cutting Down On Weight Of Equipment

I recently had a similar dilemma. Nearly went for Fuji, as you can get a nice light kit ... until you get to the longer telephoto lenses. So, I've stayed with a micro 4/3 system, with Pansonic G90 (some might prefer a G9 or G9 Mk2, or the OM Systems bodies) Panasonic Leica 12-60mm f/2.8-4...

Using Photoshop - Screen Set To 72dpi but Image Is 300dpi?

Unless you're involved in something like magazine production, you can just ignore dpi, ppi etc. for the screen and the image. Your image size is measured in pixels, not inches. The screen dpi is only used if you tell PS to display the image as 'actual size', which is pretty much meaningless...

Beginner Raw files not visible on windows?

If you look at this guy's channel, (and this video!) his view on Windows is like an iPhone fanatic's view on Android, or an Android fanatic's view on iPhones. I tend to mistrust anyone who is too far to one extreme or the other. Windows is certainly not perfect, but neither is Linux, iOS or...

    Shipping used lithium ion batteries

Where does it mention that Lithium batteries are allowed? The only mentions of Lithiums are where they are prohibited, unless they are sent with the electronic device.

Photoshop Died - Is there a cheaper alternative?

If you're considering Affinity, I'd also suggest trying Photoline. It doesn't look as pretty, but it's arguably more powerful (and more mature) than Affinity, and is a similar price. It's been around for a long time and is very well thought of. I'd download trial versions of both and see...

    "Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

A vast improvement? My G80 has a great viewfinder, so the G9 must be pretty amazing in that case. Just to check - you're not thinking of the GX80 rather than the G80?

Adobe CC - Stopping the direct debit

Unless Adobe are flouting the law, that's not the case (or it wasn't when I tried to cancel a couple of years ago). According to Adobe, the 14 days cooling off period only applies when you first sign up. On an automatic renewal, the penalties apply (i.e. have to pay half the remainder of the...
