A project for a client, a lesson for my son. part 1

The devils in the detail IMO and I would have thoroughly cleaned the black perspex base first. The only issue I have with glassware shot in this fashion is the way the light falls of when you backlight through perspex (or trace) with a gridded reflector. The glass in the central hot spot is...

    Profoto B2

250Ws total output and that is why with two heads attached the max power you can dial in on each head is 9.0 or in Ws terms, 1 stop down from full power meaning 125Ws each. I'm not feeling theses B2's at all as they seem very bulky for little output. If you have to carry around a generator...

    Profoto B2

What was wrong with the B1 and B2? I like the concept behind the B2 but would have prefered an AcuteB3 around 600Ws luke the current AcuteB2 however, I imagine Profoto think that would step on the toes of the ProB4 with all those additional features. 250Ws, especually when split between the two...

    To filter lens or not?

Pointless and in most cases just exaggerate flare. Just a sell up for camera shops - never filtered any of my lenses (35mm, MFD, LF) and glass as good as the day purchased.

Shooting 3fps what is the real world flash output of the main portable flash systems?

Yes, I know but at 3fps I'm not sure as I've never tried it but the B4 is a fast battery pack for sure.

Shooting 3fps what is the real world flash output of the main portable flash systems?

Interesting results and a surprising find. However, in the defence of the Bron it will not let you fire the flash unless is has the full charge for a consistent result. All the Profoto's I've owned and used (so can't imagine the B4 is any different) will happily let you trigger the flash if at...

Bowens Gemini 500 Twin Flash Kit

Not knowing the condition of the bag, stands, softbox and especially flash tube and working modelling bulbs (£15 each) I'd say £220-£250 max but yes should be a really good first set of lights it they all check out.

Bowens Gemini 500 Twin Flash Kit

Fuse is only for modelling lights and will flash just fine with a blown fuse. Until I sold my GM500's I had a head with a blown fuse and it worked (flashed) perfectly well for 12 months without replacing it.

Bowens Gemini 500 Twin Flash Kit

Good reliable heads - better than current models apparently. I used some of these professionally for a good few years and they never had a single issue other than a blown modeling light fuse and a few replacement modelling bulbs. Its probably just a fuse needs replacing (user replaceable) but...

    Profoto B1

Excellent new feature, and real HSS to boot! Can't wait to hear user reports on how it works.

    Tripods & Heads recommendation

    1. And every lens you ever buy going forward in the future will have to have IS and cameras will have to be able to shoot at very high ISO - sounds very limiting on your lens and camera choice to me? You're missing out on some of the finest and characterful lenses ever made going dawn that path...

    Tripods & Heads recommendation

And that comment is from the voice of experience? Your assumption is I've never owned a £100 tripod and have no experience of how good they can be? Show me a £100 photo tripod that can take a really nice 75mm or 100mm video fluid head....... heck show me a decent carbon video tripod thats cost...

    Tripods & Heads recommendation

A tripod and head is probably the most used, handled, abused and taken for granted piece of photo equipment most of own. NEVER skimp on it and spend as much as you can for a good one. Arca Swiss tripod heads are the best heads available like wise with their mounting system so well worth...
