    Large Format

Keep an eye on the large format forums and ebay. Bargain cameras do turn up sometimes. But to be honest, the Shen Hao would be more than enough to get started with. I know woodsy bought one recently and loves it. It will have more than enough movements to keep you happy for a good while. I...

Fuji B&W 5x4 instant film availability?

Chris, http://www.macodirect.de/fuji-3000-bwbr102x127cm-4x510-sheets-p-2321.html They don't import the 5x4 into the UK anymore. Incidentally, Maco Direct also sell 5x4 astia and acros, neither of which you can get in the uk anymore. It's not overly expensive either :)

Film meet (London)- Saturday 10th March 2012.

hmmm, I'm almost tempted. I'll put my name down as a possible, but my 30 minute set up time per shot might slow you down a bit. I do have 35mm cameras but I always feel slightly like I'm cheating on the Wista a bit when I use them! If I'm not broke and can stomach a day of Farce Great Western...

    Low cost photography - raised

If digital had indeed killed the pro, how come we struggle to find photographer who can a) fulfill a very simple brief b) set up a camera straight and level c) use flash correctly d) act in a professional manner with clients Believe me, digital may well have armed a lot of people with...

    Shooting Landscapes as a project.

few things from me..... Don't discount foggy, wet, stormy or other less favourable days. Some of the best landscape shots are ones that engage the viewer with the elements, pretty just doesn't cut it sometimes. Try to look for a different take on things. a 10 stop ND filter will not...

    I'm quite shocked........

So an individual hand made piece of furniture created by a master carpenter has no more worth than a mass produced fibreboard coffee table from Argos?

    I'm quite shocked........

That's a pretty specialised piece of kit with one or two distinct purposes. Not sure what you are getting at? Yes, the end product is always the point, but there are those that may argue that because of the relative qualities of shooting film compared to digital, the end product has more...

Show us yer film shots then!

Four from me. Catching up on some stuff I started ages ago and not got round to finishing yet. I have re-calibrated my monitors tonight to a brightness level of 90 cd/m2 instead of the 120 cd/m2 the stupid calibration program recommended. Hopefully, these won't be too dark now. The histograms...

Thorton Pickard Junior Special focusing issue

As has been mentioned above, so many things could be wrong..... I suspect though, it will be the roll film adaptor causing the issue by moving the film out of the correct focal plane, it wouldn't need to be far out to cause an issue. Could also be; Film flatness issue ground glass been...

    I'm quite shocked........

In reality, I used to have to use digital for work. With the deadlines we had to work to, it would be impossible to work with film and still make a profit or remain competitive. I would have had to do the shoot, stay up half the night developing and scanning then trying to send massive files...
