    +1 to the 55-250 IS. For the price it's sharpness is fab!

    portrait software

    I've used it and agree with Wayne, it goes way over the top and you have to really dial it down to get anything looking human! :) Personally I would skip Portrait Pro and get an older version of Photoshop (if you don't have this already) and then teach your self how to do the same thing in PS...

    Elements or CS4

    Why would you use Elements over CS4? 4GB is fine.. even when my CS5 images have like 10+ layers and the file size is over 1GB I'm still not using any where near 4GB memory.
