Thank you, I take your point in regards to the final choice but obviously just looking for other people's perspectives too as I find that contrasting feedback is invaluable when weighing up the pro's and cons :)

Thank you very much for this guys, I'm not familiar with the Sigma stuff as I said but feedback always helps and Tim, I don't think I'd buy one without as I've noticed quite a difference with the VR switched off :)

Wide angle lens would work well to get a decent view of the sky from a tripod and round about ISO100 in manual mode with an aperture of F16. Shutter speed of approx 2-3 sesonds but you could extend up to about 6-7 seconds and use a remote to fire the shutter and eliminate camera shake :thumbs:

As per title really, I'm looking for a lens to fit a Nikon D5000 to replace my kit lens and my Tamron 70-300 lens so ideally looking at an 18-200 or somewhere in that range, preferably with VR or equivalent. Budget I'm unsure of at the moment so I need to weigh up the pro's and con's of whatever...

Hi all, I'd like to expand my range a little and try some macro photography, I like the idea of a nice 1:1 105mm macro lens but obviously cost is a big factor and they ain't cheap, what alternative should i look at as I'd like to effectively try it out before I commit to spending a large amount...

Android for me everytime, Ive got a HTC Nexus One and a Motorola Xoom and they both run on Android, runs rings around the Iphoney in my opinion.
