    Meet the family

Hi guys, Finally managed to add the 24-105 'L' to my lens collection , nicely fills the gap between my 17-40 and the 70-200, yeah I know they are 'only' f4, but to me they are the perfect balance between image quality and cost, really looking forward to getting out and trying it in anger, if...

Canon 1D MKII advice needed please

Hi, I have the 1D mkII the screen is fine for checking histograms and framing but I learned along time back not to judge sharpness on it, shots that look a bit iffy on there usually turn out to be tack sharp, so the lesson is don't delete them if they look dodgy as they are probably fine...

wide angle lens for canon 1d range

Aye, another vote for the 17-40 it's my 'kit' lens on my 1D but I also have a good old Peleng 8mm for when I feel silly :-) alan

    Velbon Sherpa 250R Help please

Again if it's the same as mine, with the legs in the "closed" position pull all three clips up (towards the tripod head), then open the legs 90 degrees from where they were for very low level deployment, if you want them at higher level move them back to the closed position and as you do you'll...

    Infrared Colours

I fitted a 850nm filter in place of the filter on the sensor in my 300D, just lets IR through full mono images of IR goodness, focus is ok too as I put some packing pieces in to adjust it. A 715nm filter could also be fitted to allow some visible light through to give you the blue skies...

    Cokin Z-PRO ND filters

I'm sure I once read that the Cokin N/D filters were not actually N.D. filters but grey or grad grey, I never really understood what this meant and as I had always been happy with Cokin filters in the past, I decided to buy them again. Your image does seem to have a heavy colour cast to it...

    Canon Fetish

For me lenses if possible are Canon 'L' lenes, because of optical and build quality, I've tried others over the years but never been as happy as with the images I get from 'L' glass, I have the Peleng 8mm as for how often it gets used I couldn't justify buying a similar Canon lens. Alan

    Cokin Z-PRO ND filters

I have used the Cokin Z-pro nd filters with out any issues on both skies and water ? having said that if I'm working an image I've taken it goes through photoshop anyway so it wouldn't be an issue anyway I guess ? Alan

    Buying a medium format camera

Must say I've always found the 330 easy to use and reliable (but I might have been lucky I guess), lenses are lovely quality, only pain is watching the paralax i.e one the viewing lens looks slightly out of line than the taking lens, but there's a guide for correcting this in the viewfinder so...

    Buying a medium format camera

    What walk about L-series lens?

I have the 17-40 f4'L' and it's a cracking bit of kit either on a 1.3 or 1.6 crop body, never had a problem with it 'only' being f4 either, to me it's a keeper Alan

    monopod advice

Another vote here for the 681B it's a great bit of kit and doulbles as a handy club for fending off unwanted 'chav's' ;-) Alan

    Fisheye Lenses

I have to say I've NEVER been dissapointed with my Peleng either on 1.6 or 1.3 crop bodies, bang for the bucks it's an awesome lens, not the sort of thing I use every day but I wouldn't be with out mine it's a keeper for sure. Alan
