Or as a cheaper mirrorless option but like a D-SLR the Sony A3000 for £169 from here:

I had one of these. It has a very good sensor - better than my NEX6.
If the Argos one is not in stock near you you can always try MPB Photographic:
£145 for a used, boxed 3N body:

Or £250 on Ebay for a new one...
Personally having had the RX100 (and RX100 mk2) I would not recommend it as a great camera for someone with no photographic knowledge.
I found its preference for low shutter speeds and having the worst image stabilisation of any camera that I have owned didn't make it a great indoor camera...
Order quickly if you want one at this price as the price has been going up and down. Remember that at item does not have to be in stock for you to secure the price by ordering it. you will only be charged when it is dispatched...
I believe that a warranty for someone like Sony applies across the whole of the EU - though it might be worth checking first.
I have seen reports from some people that when they ordered from another European Amazon company the goods ended up being shipped from the UK.
I am happy to pay for software if it does what I need even if there are freeware options available. The massive amount of Adobe Elements/Lightroom on-line tutorials is a big draw to me.
I have tried GIMP but found that not to be very intuitive.
The best deal that i have seen for Lightroom is at Morgan Computers for £60
http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/product_detail/14476/Adobe-Photoshop-Lightroom-5-PC-MAC/#reviews
I have downloaded a trial of Lightroom and started watching some tutorial videos. I have not used it in anger yet but so far it seems to offer everything that I want. So far I don't think that i will need any of the image manipulation tools of Photoshop or Elements.
It is also worth checking the prices on other Amazon EU web sites as they vary considerably. With the current strength of stirling those of us in the UK can get some very good prices at the moment. For example, I was looking at getting a Sony A6000. On Amazon UK it is £649 but is around £100...
Just got my email from MPB Photographic confirming that the lenses met their Mint- requirements so I am a happy bunny. I was concerned that they might find some minor mark and say that the lenses were not mint. MPB seem like an excellent option for selling my used photo gear. I wonder if they...
I am just going through selling to MPB for the first time. (The lenses have just been collected but I have not been paid yet.l) The experience seems very good so far. I got them to quote on a few items I had but decided to only sell them two lenses.
Given that they are a business and have to...

It was £402 for less than 4hours! I contacted Amazon this morning and they refunded me £44 immediately to match the price at the time I phoned. I have just had an on-line chat now with...
