Hi gramps i always shoot in manual mode anduse auto iso but concentration on focus points as i dial in the shutterspeed first maybe its my only option.

I thought about the 50mm but on a dx would limit the focal distance, for example a snake on a branch with its head and tail hanging can only get enough focal distance with a 50mm compared to a 18-55,on the 18mm i can get him all in but not get enough light and thinking a 10-20mm would open up...

I was thinking that the 70-200 f4 instead of the f2 stats seem better for things like sharpness etc but with the f2 getting that extra stop of light. in the same price range the 200-500 seems the better lens but heavier since im always hand holding . Any recommendations for lenses as i know how important low f-stops and zoom/primes come into play. I know with my tamron i struggle with iso and have to bump it up at times in shaded areas.
