The sigma 105mm certainly looks like a very strong contender to the 100L, having looked at reviews and forum feedback. But I'd say the MPE 65 is probably still the 'best on the market' for hardcore macro.

I don't know if this has been covered, but if the image was shot in RAW, and he processed it, surely that's the clincher? (obviously not seeing as he lost but that's probably more to do with money than legalities)

Bought a set of extention tubes to dabble in macro and a graduated ND filter for some daytime long exposures. Also tried some more splashes.
