I really hated electronic viewfinders at first but they kept improving over the years.

Yeah for the MK 2 version
that has a simple solution, they designed it with a hole that you put an Allan key into and then use a wrench attached to the allan key so you have leverage to free it.

I tried an expensive WD-40 product especially made for freeing seized parts but i think the surfaces are so tightly mated that it cant penetrate at all

yes usually I would miss that particular 7mm because 35mm is one of the best focal lengths
but as you pointed out its not that simple and you have a 35mm prime if I read that correctly
maybe try the tamron and change it down the line if you really dont get on with it
Depends on how much you are getting paid, just a guess but with your equipment Im guessing this is more a case of mates rates at a fraction of the cost.
If getting well paid then yes I think one way or another you need to up the equipment standard.
Its really not that bad if you stick with one brand and put the time in to learn what you need to know
I have once again ended up with three brands, my own fault but switching between them is tough going.
I do find that Canon are the most intuitive bodies to use, and I have always felt that way.
You dont need to know all 400 pages at once or ever to use the 5D MK 3.
I picked one up and could use it without taking the manual out of the packet, only needing to look at it for certain things.
The 1D series is considerably more complicated than the 5D MK 3.
