Remote release for shots over extended period

Thanks again, think I'll give one a try.

Remote release for shots over extended period

Got it and it's brilliant! Simple but effective. Thanks again. Are the Yongnuo flash units themselves considered good? They also appear to be keenly priced.

Remote release for shots over extended period

Great! I'd written off wireless remotes after seeing the prices of the "official" kit! Pretty sure it will be the same as for the D7000, most things are. Thanks!

Remote release for shots over extended period

Hi I have a bird feeder in my garden and would like to set my camera up on a tripod near to it but release the shutter from inside the house. I do have an IR remote which works fine, but the IR release function times out after 15 mins (max setting) and I have to go back to the camera to reset...

    Quick release base compatibility

Wow - so much information! Yes, in retrospect I think I did buy the wrong thing. I'll try to lay of some of the blame for that on the online descriptions of stuff like this. Nowhere can I see that the plate I bought is configured as it is at the base. Guess you just have to know! I...

    Quick release base compatibility

OK, stand down, guys! A closer inspection of the baseplate has revealed that I can remove the 3/8 screw, just leaving a 3/8 hole. So converting the 1/4 in male thread on the tripod to a 3/8 male lets me screw the tripod directly into the baseplate. As Homer would say, "Doh!"

    Quick release base compatibility

Thanks all! I didn't realise there was so little uniformity or standards in these things. But just to be clear about the adaptor: the 3/8 screw on the baseplate is male. The 1/4 screw on the monopod is male. So an adaptor would need to be (on the "top") 3/8 female, and on the bottom, 1/4...

    Quick release base compatibility

Hi all Being new to the mixing and matching of kit, I seem to have made a newbie error. I bought a monopod for use with my DSLR. It has a 1/4 inch (male) screw on th top which screws into the hole in the base of my camera. But as you'll all be aware, this is not terribly convenient! Mounting...

    Zoom lens prices

No, maybe you're right and it's not as potentially useful as I've been suggesting. In terms of picture quality though, I would have thought that a "budget" 18-200 would be a lot harder to "get right" in all aspects of performance than one of more limited range. So in terms of "why go for...

    Zoom lens prices

Thanks guys. I didn't intend to compare apples and oranges, so it's looking like the 24-70 lens was a bad example to pick. I understand that the two cheaper lenses I cited are probably made in bulk and can therefore be kept down in price. I would expect that the same could be done for my...

    Zoom lens prices

Hi New to all this! So this may be daft but I can't fathom what's going on with lens prices. My Nikon DSLR comes paired with an 18-55 zoom lens. The lens on its own retails around £100 or less. I also have a 55-200 which I see I could currently buy for about £110. But it occurred to me that a...
