    Canon 6d

I know, I own both, and wouldn't part with my 6D, but I initially replied before Jamie clarified what he was after with his second post. I'd agree in this case a 6D is a decent choice.

    Canon EOS 6D Mk2 Owner's Thread

I hadn't really planned on upgrading my trusty old 6D, especially since I decided last year to replace my 7D with an 80D in the expectation the 6DII wouldn't get a big AF or fps upgrade... But those figures if accurate suggest the 6D is basically just as good (or that the difference is...

    Canon 6d

Depends what you're looking for - it has low FPS, and only one really good AF point (but it is very good, even in low light). Mine has excellent image quality for a (Canon) camera of that generation, and certainly for landscapes, portrait etc it's good. For me it's unique point at the time...

    Astrophotography

As you go out in the zoom you will also be far more sensitive to atmospheric stability. There will just be nights where nothing ends up looking sharp even with the best lens in the world - it's not just the clouds that make this kind of thing hard from the UK!

basic landscape setup for winter ..

I think the standard advice that would work on both is Canon's 16-35 f/4 but obviously pricier. If you do go near dark a proper LED torch, and a decent cheap GPS unit won't go amiss either. (Though having a paper map as well is also advisable). Don't get stuck in the wild! And for the...

5D MKII to 6D? Worth the hassle?

I cheerfully shoot ISO 10000 with the 6D and get decent results. Wouldn't be without it.

    Wex trade in.

One thing to watch with WEX for anyone considering them for selling a body is that they occasionally do a trade-in bonus deal, which bumps up the value (even though they seem to drop their valuations a bit at the same time!)

    Non UK La Palma

This webpage http://lapalma-island.com/category/stargazing/ might answer some of your questions regarding access and what happens - the official site website is less useful but it is at http://www.iac.es/eno.php?op1=2&op2=3&lang=en. Generally, once it is properly dark headlights are a...

    6D 7D and 5DMk2

I bought it for its low light capability (since someone was finally mad enough to pay me to do some photography and it was all nighttime light pollution stuff). I keep using it because I prefer the results in a very unquantifiable way (not sharpness which is really just down to the fact that...

    6D 7D and 5DMk2

Obvious first point, what do you feel you lack with the 7D? I can't see anything in what you've written as to why you might actually want to go FF. Keep in mind as well that if you do go down the FF route and want to be able to replace all your current capability, you won't be able to do the...

Visual Benefits of L lenses over standard ef-s lenses

In my experience the 24-105 and 17-55 produce similar results on a crop body. I don't have the 15-85 but if you want a single lens I would suggest that is probably a better bet for you (it's essentially the crop 24-105 equivalent or as close as you can get). 24 will be too wide as others have...

Picture Quality - Canon 6D vs. Canon 70D

Tends to work more the other way if anything. An EF lens will always tend to be good in the centre, so will perform very well on a crop body. It's keeping good images over a larger image area that is hard (ie the edges of the full field). That's why a lens like the 17-40 which is only...
