I had the same problem as BARRYBOY, above, re payment to PORTUS through PAYPAL, but when I phoned them, they took a payment over the phone, very helpful, he even went to check the stock to see if one was ready for dispatch. Just the cornier, FED EX, let them down really.

I brought a Canon 5D3 and a Canon 135 f2L from PORTUS, arrived in perfect condition and as advertised. Only complaint was no tracking of shipment via FED EX, who were shocking, delivering the camera to a factory, which I went and retrieved it from!!, very good value though.

I have a SIGMA 18-250 am really pleased with it, together with the SIGMA 159-500, my most used, despite having a number of CANON L lenses, although the 18-250 won't work on the full frame camera. Really good value for everyday use.

I was in the same position 18 monthes ago, basically CANON or NIKON on a budget, both very good. The thing that swung it for me was that there are some NIKONS that have the lens motor in the camera, and some that don't, and vice versa with lenses, I realized that I may end up with no lens motor...

Did you try rotating the filter?, the effect changes every 90 degrees.

Have you considered the Samsung 500Gb? Very potable, I use a seagate 750 mains as a further back up seems to work well. Maplins did a good deal on both and the Samsung has an auto back up function
