    Sitting down

Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated. I settled on using a small stepstool which seems to be just fine. Here's a pic I took (while sitting on it) from last Sunday IMG_8610 by Ian Kendle, on Flickr

    Sitting down

What does everyone use to sit on at a football match? Up till now I've been sitting on the ground to get as low as possible, but have been suffering with a bad back and need to get something to sit on. Thanks in advance.

    Stunning.............

Apologies, these aren't my photos, these caught my eye, stunning, just stunning. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3573526/National-Geographic-Traveler-photographer-year-contest-s-stunning-entries.html

    Best white balance setting?

Thank you for all your advice. The football match was interesting to say the least. It was raining for the duration of the match which was something I've never had to deal with, so I improvised and used a plastic carrier bag to cover my lens and camera. Also, I did a silly thing, I was taking...

    Best white balance setting?

My office is playing another company in a football match at Bromley FC in few weeks and I'm hopefully going to be taking some match photos. What would be the best white balance setting to use under the floodlights? By the way, I'm using a Canon 7D.

What have you done with your camera today

Went to a football match, Chelmsford City v Writtle, I have daughters that play for both clubs, here's one of the shots I took. IMG_3534 by Ian Kendle, on Flickr

    Canon 7D focusing

Thanks KIPAX, I'll have a look at that and hopefully give it a go.

    Canon 7D focusing

DizMatt, I don't use back button focusing and my focusing is activated by the shutter. I haven't tried back button focusing, what's the advantage, it all seems a bit of faff?

    No ball...........

Is it ever okay not to have a ball in shot when taking a photo at a football match of the players? Here's one I took on Sunday, I'm in two minds about it, thoughts anyone? IMG_2995 by Ian Kendle, on Flickr

    Canon 7D focusing

To be honest, I do struggle sometimes to keep with play and focus on what I want and did toy with the idea of using the 19 points a try, but glad I didn't.

    Canon 7D focusing

I usually use centre focus point focusing with my Canon 7D, but was going to try giving the 19 point focus a try today. I'm glad I didn't, otherwise I don't think the player I wanted would of been in focus. Does anyone use the 19 point focus instead of centre focus? I'd be interested to know...

    The right settings?

Had my new Canon 7D a little while, starting to get used to it. But there are a couple of things that I need advice on. So far I've kept the white balance on auto and the metering on evaluative. Most of my photos are outside and are of football matches. Are these settings appropriate? If not...

    So annoyed with myself

So annoyed with myself, I changed the drive setting on my Canon 7D to 'one shot' the other day. Today, I shot two football matches and forgot to check and change it to back to 'ai servo'. I won't do that again.

    What to get?

Thanks for all the replies, most of my edits are crop, a bit of exposure and a bit of sharpening. Lightroom looks like it may be worth going for. Only trouble is I think it needs windows 7 and I've got an old PC with vista...........

    What to get?

I'm thinking about buying Photoshop Elements or Lightroom to edit my photos. I'm sure this has been discussed in previous threads, but I'm unsure which is best for my needs. I tend to shoot mainly football and keep it all in jpeg rather than raw.
