    I shoot with Nikon tethered straight into lightroom a lot of the time for commercial jobs. never have any trouble. Have shot tethered at events for years, where we do instant view and print sales. The cable is a pain sometimes on events, but quicker and more reliable than any of the wireless...

    PS I got an elinchrom Dlite2 kit on ebay recently 2 heads, stands & softboxes for £200 something like that would be ideal for you. you only need low powered heads for portraits of kids.

    To start off with go for second hand, reliable makes. You cant go far wrong with Elinchrom or Bowens, I have a one set of Elinchroms that must be over 20 years old and still going strong, spares are still available. Avoid the interfits and Jessops. Brollies are the cheapest way to get going...

    Major arm pain from using camera

    As mentioned above, it might be worth a consultation with an osteopath. GPs may frown on them, but I find that they can work wonders. Was the pun intentional when you described them as shooting pains?

    I have a few 20x16 prints knocking around I would have to copy those. Cant scan negs as my scanner will not work with Win7 or Win10 - No drivers :(

    I know what you mean but I seem to remember the lenses are also full of fungus :( Should soften the image nicely though.

    I used a Bronica ETRS for years, no idea how many weddings and portraits i must have covered. I could just pick it up and work effortlessly, so simple to use no mass of buttons and endless menus, it was like an extension of myself. I came across the case last year with it all packed inside...
