Egypt and Camera Rules Update Post Trip

You will have to leave your camera at the reception area outside the Cairo Museum, very strict on photography in there. All bags etc are scanned to when you go in so no sneaking in your body and a nifty fifty for example. All the other tips given above are good and make sense. It is one of the...

Looking at used Macbook's, what to look out for?

I have a MBP having moved from PC laptops and would never go back. As mentioned iPhoto is a capable piece of software which is part of the iLife suite that comes bundled. If looking at secondhand go for a dual core model and don't be put off by the idea of Mac OS, I found it so intuative that...

Off On My Travels - What to Pack

Thanks for the pointers. I have a nifty fifty and as I said the 10-20. The thing is,as NorthernNikon said, I want to be careful about drawing attention to myself as I will be in both the big cities (Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Shanghai and the main Africa capitals) and possibly travelling to more...

Early Day Motion started in Parliament regarding street photography

I have sent a messsage to my MP Des Browne but seeing as he has voted 'very strongly' for ID Cards I am not expecting much. I did however add that if he felt that he could not sign perhaps he could take the matter up, as many of his Parliamentary colleagues had, with the relevant Minister

    Nifty 50mm on tour?

Finally got my dates firmed up for a trip back to Egypt so I can take the Canon nifty to Luxor and Cairo between the 6th and the 16th of October if it's available. The shots posted so far are great with plenty of variety to keep folks coming back:thumbs:

Cameras are potentially more dangerous than guns !

Yep, 1st of April but the idea of another stealth tax to allow us to pursue our hobby wouldn't come as a shock from this Government

    Sigma 28-70 f2.8

Don't know if it's the 24-70 tel48 mentions above that you mean but I have the 28-70. The shot below was taken at 28mm at f4. it's as it came out of the camera, just resized for flickr Got it from a guy cheap on ebay and it's a good enough lens to use as a walkabout though mine does get...

    Ideas for glasgow?

Where is you hotel? I can recommend the sites above and also, if you have a car, a trip out to Loch Lomond. Otherwise a train from Queen Street station low level will get you to Balloch on the shores of the Loch in under an hour.

    Canon 400d battery grip? **UPDATED**

I bought the Canon grip from Park Cameras who had it recently for £60. Don't know if it's gone back up in price though. Best accessory I have purchased, balances the body out when I'm using my 75-300 IS.
