    Lens conundrum

+1 for the 300mm F4 + 1.4x from me too. Mines the non-IS and its a great lens, especially having the flexibility of two focal lengths.. #53 Ferrari F458 Italia LMGTE by f0xy, on Flickr #1 Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro LMP1 by f0xy, on Flickr

Anyone Using Canon 28mm f1.8 USM?

I have one and use it on a 5Dii, great sharp light lens, never had an issue with softness wide open either. Its pretty wide on the 5 being FF, which is why I got it

    Oulton Park 70-200

I had a 70-200 F4L (Non-IS) some time ago, and it was good for Oulton (My local circuit). Although, I found myself always using 150mm+ most of the time to get the shots framed correctly (Especially at Cascades/Knickerbrook/Druids). I got rid of it and didn't have anything for a while (having...

    DSLR DIY Slider

Yeah, the resolution is another upside, better to work with (even if you do need a decent-ish computer to run AE quickly) The most expensive part was the IGUS Rail and Dolly, just over £100. I already had the Steel/Ally and Arduino (£12 usually I think) Motor was about £15 Belt+Pulley...

    DSLR DIY Slider

The only problem with video is slight vibration of the gear/motor.. Its only slight and you can't notice at 28mm...to be honest 50mm is fine also, but at 100mm its quite noticeable. I would have used a DC motor over a stepper motor if I wanted to use it mainly for video :)

    DSLR DIY Slider

Spent the past few weeks putting together a motorized DSLR slider, for video and timelapse. It runs on Arduino, I ended up building my own controller instead of using a pre-made shield. I had a couple of hours spare yesterday so used it properly for the first time. I used a shoot-move-shoot...

    Freesat - Any Good?

We changed from subscription sky to it as we were not watching anything on the 'paid' channels. Its fine for the amount we watch now, just need to work out what you have recently watched/what you would watch again that are on the subscription channels - if not get rid

Installing a 2nd internal hard drive to a Macbook Pro

Didn't realise the enclosures were so cheap. I did the SSD swap and Ram upgrade a while ago, but only 60gb free space to store stuff so have been shuffling external hard drives. Goes to search Amazon.........

    Cat5 faceplate question

35mm should be fine, we work around that with cat5 on installs.

Trackside passes for non professionals at Le Mans

I've seen some terrible excuses of media in the past few years at the 24h - eg. someone trackside taking panning shots with an old canon powershot compact, flash turned on. Its got to be down to who you know as well as previous accreditation IMO.

Time lapse photography of building site over a 12 month period

Site-Eye looks rather impressive. I guess it depends on budget also

Time lapse photography of building site over a 12 month period

Does it need to be DSLR quality? If not you'd be better off getting some sort of IP camera connected to something with an internet connection (router + 3g dongle)... especially if its being left somewhere 'unsecure'
