Image quality won't be massively different but I think ISO performance would be much better on a D5100 or D3100. I wouldn't bother upgrading, spend the money on glass! :cool:

Unfortunately I'm stuck with the pretty awful screen on the D3100 so quite a few of my images require some kind of editing. I usually like the colours to 'pop' too so a quick pass through lightroom is a must!
I had a play with a friend's 50 AF 1.8 and I really couldn't stand manual focus, all my pictures came out slightly OOF. :(

I've seen some fantastic images from the Canon 85mm 1.8 and I know that it's rated pretty highly. Sadly I'm a Nikon user and I can't seem to find an equivalent nikon lens that will focus on my D3100. The only nikon option is the 85mm AF-S f/1.4G but that costs a fortune! So does a Nikon version...
