Thanks for the quick reply
But that's not really a super zoom -
Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T f/2.8 24-200mm
the others are 24-600 & 24-1200 ish
also a lot more expensive - but , as i didn't give a budget , around £300-£500
and the 600m was a minimum zoom really
thanks again
For Nature photography which of the following three superzooms would you choose?
1) Sony dsc-hx400v / Sony dsc-hx300
2) Panasonic LUMIX Digital Camera DMC-FZ200
3) Canon PowerShot SX50 HS
FZ-200 - the F2.8 throughout the range - ilike that idea, but i comming from a DSLR/SLR background...
you may need a macro lens or extension tubes to get some good closeups of the marine fish
also the lighting mybe quite low and so you would need a lens with a wide aperture or a camera that handled high iso setting
the CPU is better going by the CPU Passmark site
amd 1576 821
i3 4236 261
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
are things you run and use - CPU bound - have a look at tasl manager and see if the cpu is runnign 100% frequently
you dont give any other specs for the existing PC
if...
i prefer not to do anything in camera all those settings are available on DPP so you can apply any styles later
just my preference - I also shoot RAW + a small jpg to display on the back screen
camera raw 4.6 http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4040 will support CS3 and also the 400D
http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_4.6_ReadMe.pdf
so you should be able to use raw directly on cs3 - i use adobe dng converter but usually DPP
CS3 should be good for photo editing - did you get any software with the camera - DPP
not sure if CS3 supports raw with 400d - I have cs3 and does not support 60D - but i use DPP to manage the RAW file and then convert and use cs3
have a read here
http://www.shutterbee.thinkrandom.com/#ApertureSize
http://web.canon.jp/imaging/enjoydslr/part2/2A.html
what do you know of these
the speed controls how long the light is allowed on the sensor - and so also freezes or blurs movement
the aperture control how much light can...
any particular images you have seen, maybe a link -i just wonder if you have seen some images with some of the top rated canon glass - so you comparing images from primes & Zooms at around £600+
images taken with the 70-200L look great but at £2k a lens
FYI - by putting emails into public forums you are increasing the chances of getting a lot of spam , there are robots which harvest email address and then sell these on.
why do you think you will get a different exposure with the 5D
not taking into account the different field of view - lets assume you point the 5D at a lawn and point the 60D at a lawn - the exposure reading should be the same
so F4 1/125th - if needing iso800 on the 60D will still need ISO800...
do you have any shots with a shutter speed greater that 300th of a second ?
also with DDP - you should be able to see the focus point used check that info as well
360mm and 1/90th - is never going to be sharp- unless on a tripod/monopod in my view - even with IS
especially if new to the...
