I use some 'micropore' type surgical tape stuck to the flash front to choke down a bit and soften for fill flash, on my 400d works for me, but remember to peel off before you close it down again !! Couple of layers does the trick !

Wow this is still confusing I like some parts of the Blackrapid system, but have had Optech before and I'm not using any huge lenses yet !! So still torn between them think the Black rapid looks simpler !

Do you have a pic of your set up at all, heinfirst, sounds like exactly what I'm trying to achieve ??

I've started a similar thread too, I'm leaning towards the Optech strap for that very reason I believe a few extra pounds invested may just be worth it in the long run & be lees likely to fail and damage my camera or lens !!
