The Tamron 17-50 2.8 Non VC is a phenomonal lens for the cash. Got mine for my 400d a few years ago and still use it constantly on my 550d.

Well a 36" print from a 5dmk2 works out at 156 DPI. Same print from a D300 is 119 DPI. I know it doesnt sound like much and its fine for posters but its noticable on fine prints. Saying that I am a bit anal about my print quality :D

I'm a 5dmk2 user and when looking at some of the nikon specs I do tend to get a little jealous sometimes. However I prefer the range of canon lenses and having a Epson 7890 the extra megapixels is a no-brainer for me.

Its maybe worth looking into microadjusting. My 5d2 with 24-70 2.8 looked far softer than my 550d with tamron 17-50. After testing the focussing on a page of text I did a bit of microadjusting and the difference is like night and day.

I've been using 4 16gb Transcend 133x on my 5DmkII for the last 2 months without any problems. Probably taken around 8000 shots and heaps of video with no problems at all. I think I got lucky :D
